I can't believe they were trying to sell that for $500! It's all plastic!

As someone who has just bought a crappy outdoor setting from eBay, outdoor furniture is an overpriced scam.

      • +3

Always wondered why the crappy outdoor furniture had extortionate pricing

      • +2

So not worth the price even after the drop?

        • Oh I have no idea about the Bunnings set. They do have pretty good returns policy at least, so it's probably safe.
I just meant that I spent a long time shopping for an outdoor set for our balcony, and even our cheap and nasty wicker set was several hundred dollars and this was after looking for the best deal I could find. I have no idea why it's all so expensive.

Keter stuff is very good, I have a Keter Storage bench purchased about 4 years ago, out in the open all the times and still looking good. Th color doesn't fade and the plastic doesn't become brittle. IMO at this price its a good deal,

        • @sunnysydney: Alright thanks mate.

        • @sinewaves7: Probably because it has to be water and sun proof to last anytime at all. I do agree though.

  • Made in Europe

    That's broad.

    • Probably Italy

      • Actually it's Netherlands according to label.

        • Yes, it is made by Allibert in Rijen, Netherlands.

    • +3

Are you suggesting Made in China is any less broad? There's like twice as many people in China than there are in Europe. Standards would definitely vary.

      • Good call. But there may also be more than consideration of only manufacturing standards.

      • The number of people in an area don't define the size of the physical location…

        • What does land mass have to do with quality control?

        • @Putnum: What does quality control got to do about the location of where something is made and the broadness of describing said location?

        • @dheywood: What was the point of saying it's broad if not for the fact that it may vary in quality depending on what part of Europe it comes from? You can see what the product is and how much it is so style and cost are ruled out..

        • +1

          @Putnum:

What was the point of saying it's broad

Nothing really. Just an observation for any to take as they want.

      • Europe = Continent
        China = Country

So yes there is a larger range in saying "Europe". This could be Iceland or Monte Negro for example.

        • China has very distinct provinces. Ever asked an Indian if they're from the north or south? It's like that country is split in two too.

Riddle me this: If Catalonia splits from Spain then will there or won't there be a difference between Made in Spain and Made in Catalonia?

        • @Putnum:

Many countries have provinces. eg in France, Brittany is a stark contrast to Cote Azur.
Australia has states. And trust me WA is in stark contrast to pretty much the rest of Australia. (And that isn't a good thing for WA).

Also ever asked an English person if they are from the North or the South? There have been many a pub brawl fought over where the divide between North and South lies. (FYI it's north of the Watford Gap.)

And if Catalonia splits from Spain and becomes its own nation, then yes, I'd expect "Made in Catalonia" as opposed to "Made in Spain". After all are you still expecting something recently made in Croatia to state "Made in Yugoslavia"?

But I digress, my point was merely that from a hierarchical level, Continent is a different classification to Country.

          i.e.
The world is divided into continents.
These continents are divided into subcontinents.
These subcontinents are divided into countries.
These countries are divided into regions.
These regions are divided into subregions or towns or cities.
These are then divided into districts, small towns, villages and municipalities

    • "Europe"

Well, Israel is a contestant in Eurovision.

        • So is Australia…

        • @Porthos: They were before we were. Apparently, in our case, it is to do with some sort of affiliate broadcast thing that SBS is part of.

        • @try2bhelpful: I know, but my point still stands. Using Eurovision as your justification for Israel being part of Europe is pretty extreme 😂😂

        • @Porthos: I couldn't find a tongue in cheek emoji I could post here :). Next thing we will be comparing notes on the quality of the songs in Eurovision.

        • @try2bhelpful: Oh god, don't go there haha

        • +1

@Porthos: even better, the costumes and/or the staging. There are so many classics, as shown in “love, love, peace, peace”.

They also gave me their heart but the very next day I gave it away.
Guess they shouldn't have given it to someone on special.

        • @Tiggrrrrr: Nicely done, very nicely done.

Got this today, last one at Oxley store except the display.
This is a nice outdoor setting maybe a bit low to the ground, simple, nice finish and reasonably comfortable.
I have a Keter storage box which is excellent, looks great even after 3 years outside.

Outdoor set is actually labeled with a Keter sub brand 'Allibert' https://www.allibert-outdoor.com/en/

I think its the same as this, which gets great reviews:
