It's OK, but not much difference between the previous games.

that switch bundle looks pretty good! .. get HN to pricematch to use the amex deal.

    • Too bad we can't save the AmEx offer anymore.

      :(

    • +1

Damn! Best price I've seen for Mario Odessy + Switch.
I will never stop being tempted by Switch deals :(

EDIT: Damn HN are useless. From their livechat:

we do not have the same bundle online so we are not able to price match

      • probably better to try in store.

        • Looks like it. I just wanted to be lazy.

        • +2

@theguyrules: my friend just piced matched at HN instore .. so no problems there .. im kinda waiting on a better price for the mario edition.

        • @hippyhippy: Best I had was $429 for the Mario edition after Amex

        • @theguyrules: yeah I'm waiting to get a better price than that haha

The Gamesmen have their Super Mario Odyssey back in stock for $439.16

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nintendo-Switch-Neon-Joy-Con-Con…

      • It's a good deal, but this bundle isn't quite the same, as it's the Neon console, instead of the Mario-themed one.

        • +1

Both the Big W bundle and the Gamesmen bundle are for the Neon Switch and Mario Odyssey.

        • What @ChiefAJ said

      • sorry i'm definitely missing something but how do you manage to get it down to 440? 548 when i click on it? is there a code or something?

        • +1

          20% off code - PREZZY

  • +1

Add another 5% off from Cashrewards

when are they going to drop good ps4 pro deals, been waiting for something decent

    • They had the black or white Ps4 pro + gt sport + fallout 4 + Logan (bluray) for 509 a couple of weeks ago. Further 5% off with cashrewards

    • +1. Keen on a solid standalone PS4 Pro deal. Finger is on the trigger and waiting…

      • yea i saw that ps4 pro deal on bigw, had it waiting in my cart, but decided not to go with it, with blackfriday and cybermonday upcoming, a better deal should come soon

  • Anyone else find EB are being a real pain at price matching Big W now? Even with catalogue in hand, recently, on a few different occassions, they have wanted to call the nearest store to check if there is stock. Shouldn't be an issue if the catalogue sale started on that day.

    • +4

Only with bundles, everything else they have never refused a pricematch.

    • +1

Don't shop at EB Games, simple.

    • +4

My Big W near my is closing so I couldn't go buy from them. EB wouldn't don't price match since there wasn't a Big W in the same suburb, so I just walked over to JB and did it.

Ideally you'd buy from Big W to support these low prices / sales since they're going to sell out soon it seems. I wouldn't go burn more fuel traveling further away just for it though.

      • They would be pretty douchey not to match, all my local EBs are very good in regards to it. As long as I can provide a catalog I am good. Doesnt have to be one in the local area.

    • Have never had an issue price matching @ EB. Even got the Mario Odyssey game with the pre-order hat (for pre-ordering there, obviously). Maybe I just have really cool staff at my stores!

      • +2

I'm always happy for customers to roll into my store and price match! Never once have I refused to do it. It's bad practice to go against your own policy. Besides, often when people price match they always end up pre-ordering something else or buying some loot. A win win for both parties :)

        • I wish that was the attitude all EB staff had. I'd probably preorder everything I wanted to get from EB if that was the case rather than wait for Target and Big W to reveal their launch prices before deciding where to buy.

    • My store is always great. I've price matched dozens of things and most of the time they never even ask. If that person has already price matched it that day they just do it.

    • I price matched Assassin's Creed Origins the other week and the clerk gave me this almost spiteful spiel about how Big W are just undercutting the other retailers to be competitive and keep afloat or something. I mean what made him think I would care about that? At least he still did it (he did ask for proof, though).

    • I've noticed this too. A mate tried to price match Battlefield 1 with EB and they called up Big W. Big W had no stock so they refused to sell it to him at the cheaper price then had the bright idea to try and lure him into buying it by saying if he wants it that badly he can just fork out the extra cash and get it from them right now. We both laughed when they said that, mainly out of shock tbh, then left the store. Price matching must be something they're cracking down on. Maybe they've changed a policy somewhere? This is just one encounter though I'd expect that there's tonnes of stores out there that would still price match based off a catalogue.

In the past our EB Games has been really good with price matching but after that experience I've been reluctant to even step foot in their store again.

  • Any PS4 games in the catalog?

  • +3

10% off online using code "FF10" coming this weekend Saturday 18 and Sunday 19th November

    • How did you find this?

    • +2

Exclusions for Apple, Samsung, Gaming Consoles, Dyson, Giftcards, Digital Cards, DVD Kiosk purchases, BIG W Photo & BIG W movie… But should work for games, and other items… I will post shortly along with redemption which will be available in-store.

      • ahh damn - was going to jump on the switch bundle with 10% off.

  • I haven't played a Pokemon game since the Gameboy Colour days with Yellow and Silver, but I'm planning on doing a marathon of all the Pokemon games I've missed in that time(heaps!!). What's the situation as far as backwards compatibility with all the DS models, what console(s) should I be looking at if I want to play every Pokemon game from the GBA era to the present?

    • -3

      Emulators or a hacked 3DS

    • +3

A DS or DS Lite (not i or iXL) will allow you to play gens 3, 4 and 5
Any 3DS/2DS will allow you to play gens 4, 5, 6 and 7

      • +1

3DS also gen 1 and 2 by VC

    • +3

Depends how you want to play them.
For the GBA era (my favourite) you can either play the actual GBA games, or the 3DS remakes, but I wouldn't recommend them.
A 3DS would give you the widest coverage of games, as they play the DS games too. Only games you'd miss are GBA ones.
You can actually softmod a 3DS and install the GBA games on there, or play them on an emulator, or buy a GBA.

      • +1

+1. I also grabbed a Supercard for 3ds a few years back. Runs GB, GBC, GBA, DS flawlessly while the 3ds can handle 3ds just fine.

    • +2

If you get the 3DS, you can play:

      3DS

      • X / Y
      • Alpha Sapphire / Omega Ruby
      • Sun / Moon
      • Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon

      DS

      • Diamond / Pearl/ Platinum
      • Heart Gold / Soul Silver
      • Black / White
      • Black 2 / White 2

      Virtual Console

      • Red / Blue
      • Yellow
      • Gold / Silver

If you're going to get a DS Lite, you're going to need to watch out for fake GBA cartridges, which feels like 90% of the market.

      • You can get Silver and Gold as a download on the 3ds XL too. Came out in September.

      • Gonna say that if you're struggling for availability on some games for the DS Lite, you can go down the dodgy path and get an R4 or equivalent flashcart

    • If you're happy to play the remakes of some of them rather than the original, you can play everything on a 3DS.

      • For Gen 1 (Red/Blue/Yellow), you can get the original GB versions on Virtual Console.
      • For Gen 2 (Gold/Silver), you can either get the original GBC versions on Virtual Console, or get the DS remakes (HeartGold/SoulSilver)
      • For Gen 3 (Ruby/Sapphire), you can get the 3DS remakes (Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby)
      • Gen 4 (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) and Gen 5 (Black/White, Black 2/White 2) are DS games, so they'll play on the 3DS
      • Gen 6 (X/Y) and Gen 7 (Sun/Moon, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon) are 3DS games
  • +1

Do you have the rest of the catalogue?

  • If there's no BigW near you (and/or you can't price match to them), it seems Target are pricing Ultra Sun/Moon at $49 which isn't too bad in itself.

  • Where did you get the catalogue? Would big w or other retailers match these deals ?

    • +2

Would big w or other retailers match these deals ?

Yes, Big W will match with themselves.

In all seriousness, EB Games and JB Hi-Fi do, but your experience may vary as some are strict on price-matching, while others are not.
It's best to bring the catalogue along for easy price-matching. Phone is fine too.

      • Have you got a link to the catalogue? I probs will get from big w

        • Nope. It'll arrive in our mailboxes soon.

  • Top bad you can't price match Pokemon Collectors edition, since EB Games are the only one that stock them.

    • That's half the reason they stock them. I had to ask for a standard copy of Assassin's Creed Origins on PS4 because the Big W discount was only for that. They were only sent one apparently so I got lucky there.
