I'm getting the same. Not too sure if I should hit yes or not.

      • How did you guys go?

    • from the email i received…

Your free trial has been confirmed. In 2 months from today, you will be charged your first $6.95 monthly payment.

…so cancel before expiry of the trial and you wont be charged

  • As Shipster is a govt entity, is every Australian retailer entitled to this? Or are only a few select big business's entitled to this taxpayer funded subsidy?

Would hate to be a small Aussie retailer having to pay for postage when Gerry Harvey and the Myer family, etc, get it free! wow! Now that the playing field is un-level, I wonder which one consumers will chose? lol

I could be wrong, they could have just forgotten they are a govt dept instead of a clearing house for their friends. But from a business point-of-view, this does seems like a nice cosy deal for the new CEO and friends. You scratch my back, I will scratch yours and the money will flow!

This is probably connected to a contract or bonus for someone or a selected few. This way they can gradually roll this out to more customers and claim some bonus based on rapid growth. Rinse and repeat for few years and theres a lot of free million dollar bonuses.

    • taxpayer funded subsidy eh?
ok take book depository for example, books are heavy and it costs a lot to send a book right, so how come its free postage?
so the english taxpayer give large business in england free postage to promote business, then when the book gets to australian shores auspost are obliged to forward on the package to you for free (under reciprocal arrangement).

so you have received 2 gov subsidies and put ANOTHER local business in jeopardy because it cost so much to sent anything from somewhere in aus to elsewhere in aus.
but england are a friendly country, how about we do the sums on buying something for cents from a communist country (who support other communist d$ckbags) and see the costs incurred to auspost(taxpayers) under the reciprocal arrangement…..

so a small aussie retailer pays for nothing, only all aus taxpayers pay, for the crap bought for no good reason other than hallmark holidays

its asking for a 6.95 charge to sign up to this free 2 month offer???

    • Got the same problem….

      • Likewise.

    • from the email i received…

Your free trial has been confirmed. In 2 months from today, you will be charged your first $6.95 monthly payment.

…so cancel before expiry of the trial and you wont be charged

  • Will not let me pay!

When I put in my credit card number, I get the "spinning wheel of death" that just spins and never returns.

Is anyone else getting this when they attempt to pay by credit card???

    • +1

Yes, tried PayPal and wants $6.95 payment so trying CC now and it is just spinning.

Edit: Got it after a few tries. Took a $1 authorization from my card.

      • Did it change from $6.95 to $0 as soon as you changed card type?

  • "registered email address at the checkout with your chosen retailer, and free shipping will be automatically applied."

I don't understand how this works. Do I need to register and login with the same email address on the online shop as my shipster registration? Do I put it in a special window like where you apply coupons? Do I put it in "message" for delivery? Anyone have a screenshot of where you're supposed to type in your shipster email? ie. on Harvey Norman's checkout page.

    • No, it should come up automatically provided that you use the same email address for with the online retailer. If you just registered it might take a little for the systems to sync though.

      • Ok so you do need to register on the shop's eebsite using the same email registered on shipster?

        • Yes

  • Too bad computer stores such as cpl, msy, shopping express are not in the list

  • Does this trial start from day you sign up or from 1st day of month you signed up?

    • From the day you sign up

  • It kept saying There was a problem verifying your account. Please log in again.

The payment method section is completely blank and I couldn't see any options to choose. Not a very good system. Tried on IE and Chrome. None is working.

  • Auspost is the (profanity) worst.

  • +4

Just an update that shipster is now available nationwide, yes nationwide. Or so I am told

  • +3

There's a Shipster kiosk in front of Optus at Westfield Doncaster.

If you sign up at the kiosk, you can get a free $50-$10 Myer/Cotton On/Target gift card.

Tomorrow is the last day to get the free gift cards!

  • Anyone having trouble uploading the credit card details for free trial? I'm coming up with an error message Sorry, we couldn't process this payment. (error: 33)

    • NEVERMIND just keep trying and refreshing the page. got it on the 5th-6th refresh

This just seems like the government monitoring our online purchases.

  • All I have tried so far work, but Chemist Warehouse does not. Have raised a ticket

    • +1

I found that it doesn't work if you go straight to 'Pay by Paypal', but works if you go to 'Checkout', then choose paypal on the next screen.

      • Yeah thanks - have used that to update the ticket with screen shots.

Problem is, if you use code 'PAYPAL' to get 7.5% off, it removes the checkout button.

        • Ah I see

        • I had that problem too (checkout button disappears, and no shipster option with the paypal option), but when I tried again later the shipster option appeared when I used the paypal option.

  • What a crappy name.

Has anybody cancelled their membership yet?

    From T&C:

You may cancel your Shipster subscription at any time by contacting the Service Centre, or by visiting Your Account and adjusting your subscription settings. If you do not cancel your subscription before your monthly billing date, you authorise us to continue to charge the next month's subscription fee from your payment method. If you cancel during the term of your subscription then, to the extent permitted by law, you will not receive a refund for Shipster subscription fee. You will continue to have access to Shipster through to the end of your current monthly subscription period.

We will notify you via email at least 10 days prior to the end of your Trail Offer that you will be automatically rolled over onto a month-to-month subscription. Our email notification will contain instructions for how to cancel your Shipster subscription, should you not wish for your subscription to continue. If you do not cancel your subscription by the prescribed date, your subscription will be automatically rolled over onto a month-to-month subscription, which will continue unless cancelled.

I joined on 14 Nov and have not received any notification that my trial is expiring. Also can't find any reference to Shipster subscription in my MyPost account (though it has definitely worked when shopping). Is there a way to cancel without the notification, and without having to contact customer service?

    • Did you sign up via paypal? You can just cancel the ongoing payment on this page and go onto Australia Post and click cancel.

      Otherwise I'm not too sure.

      • +1

Thanks. No I didn't use Paypal. It would be nice if Shipster had some interface to show your active subscription that you can just cancel…

        • Damn, I'd recommend using paypal for any kind of subscription, therefore you can instantly cancel your payment contract so they haven't got any way of charging you in the future. Can't see a way to cancel just instantly on the site..

        • @doweyy: Yeah I usually do. Somehow didn't in this case, thanks for the reminder :)

    • same here.. i have just deactivated the pre-approval on my paypal account.

    • I used the contact form to let them know about the cancellation yesterday. They got back today:

Thanks for giving Shipster a try! I really hope you enjoy shopping with Shipster during the free trial period.

It would be fantastic to get your feedback on why you are choosing to cancel at this time and if there's anything we can do to make the Shipster offers and bonus deals more valuable to you.

I’ll ensure your membership is cancelled at the end of the trial period, and you won’t be charged any ongoing fees. If you change your mind and want to stay on board just let us know

So no issues with cancelling with them directly.

  • Enjoyed the trial and used it a few times, but can't justify the monthly charge (and don't want to encourage my online shopping habit). Though I cancelled my automated payment via PayPal when I joined mid-November, I've just sent an enquiry to Shipster to cancel my membership at the end of the trial period as well.

If you login, click subscriptions on the left, you can cancel it yourself on their website. No need to send messages.

    • +2

Just clarifying that you log into the AusPost website, Manage Account and go to Subscriptions to cancel. Just did it and got email straight away that shipster shitster is cancelled!

  • Anyone having problem cancelling on their mobile? Can't see the subscription link on the left or anywhere

  • +1

Easy to cancel from mobile. From Manage Account go to Subscriptions to cancel.

    • Cheers. Got it now.

  • Thanks OP

  • Just tried for free shipping via Shipster at Kogan. No longer available and no longer listed on Shipster web site. :-(

    • Kogan is still one of the retailers, see here half way down the page, it applies at the checkout? Were you using the same email as your shipster on the kogan order?

      • I may have missed it in the Shipster auspost store list. I still am not getting the discount shipping in the Kogan checkout.
