Okay so I've stumbled across this website. They are currently doing a half price joining offer for $432.00

It's basically a home swap club. You can swap homes ( and cars if you like ) with others so holidays are more affordable. If you don't want to do direct swaps you can swap for points. You accumulate points by letting people stay at your house and you can later use them to stay at someone elses home.

Here's the part that makes it Oz bargain worthy.. If you sign up to the Platinum package ($432) they give you 1000 points to get you started. As a lot of properties are only 100 points a night this is 10 nights accommodation.

I have booked 10 nights in Melbourne with my "getting started points", on Christmas / new year holidays and it's only cost me the yearly joining fee of $432.00 !

When I was looking I found people to be pretty responsive ( within a week ) and the family home we are staying in is legit, has reviews and I now have them on facebook and spoken to them on the phone so its a go! They will be in England for the holidays ( which they booked with points). Their is no obligation to list your own home. Hope this helps some of you to get some cheap Christmas holidays accommodation !

    Theres a similar thing i think its called barter card… Shops can list products and people can list skilled labour for points bit cannot be exchanged for cash.. Although u can buy a product with points and then sell elsewhere if u want money

  How did you come up with $432 calculation?

  The subscription with 1000 point is US$34 which comes to US$408 annually and that would be more than AU$500.

  Interesting concept - there are certainly some very nice houses on there….not sure what the benefit to someone with a 2 mil house on the mornington peninsula is though….i guess so long as there is something equivalent for them somewhere around the world…

  Hey op this sounds good. I know you didn't have to list your home, but did you have to provide photos and info on your home?

  Cd you think a person would be able to open multiple accounts? 😄

    I did have to provide my address but no I didn't need to put any listings up for my house at all if I didn't want to

    After you have signed up for your free trial you should just be able to search and select a property and there will be a section on the right to put your dates in and request to book.

      Hey, thanks for that.

      I am able to search and when I click on a property.. I can see details. I am able to see calendar with some green dates (meaning available). How do I request to book on those dates?

        I had to complete my home listing. Once done set it as active then go to edit, trip preference unselect everything then update. Looks like, you need to have an active home in order to request bookings.
