out of curiosity, where can i but the cheapest 2.5" IDE HDD, i'll be using them as an portable external HD. Don't care if its used or new. i want value, so for the cheapest HD $/GB avaliable

You pay less dollar per gigabyte with a SATA drive than you do with an IDE drives.
IDE drives are more expensive than SATA ones.
You can get cheap used SATA drives too…
For example you might be able to get a used 120GB model for less than $30 including postage, and then an enclosure posted from Hong Kong should be less than $10…

IMHO you're wasting your time dude! $/gb you'll get far better VFM from a new SATA drive/enclosure or premade unit! ;)
