MyUS.com - USA Shipping Forwarding (No Setup Fee, Two Years Free Premium; 20-30% off Fees) Via AmEx / Debit Mastercard

1170

Initially found this deal here via Debit Mastercard, but looking at previous deals, this seems to have been a long-running deal, although, it has been >2 years since it was last posted. Furthermore, they also seem to have a longstanding relationship with AmEx, and that deal seems to be better than the MasterCard one…

tl;dr AmEx is better. Both deals offer the same thing, except via MasterCard, you get 30% off for the first month, and 20% off thereafter; and via AmEx, you get 30% off for the whole two years - FedEx, DHL and UPS appears to be a comprehensive list of their services, or at least are the cheapest anyway.

All you need to do is sign up with your AmEx or MasterCard.

Details:

via MasterCard

  • FREE Premium Membership for two years (Usually $60 USD p/a)
  • FREE account setup (Usually $20 USD)
  • 30% shipping discount for first month
  • 20% discount on all shipments for remaining two-year period

via AmEx

  • Waived set-up fee ($20 USD savings)
  • 2 years complimentary Premium Membership (a USD $60 saving per year)
  • 30% off already discounted FedEx, DHL and UPS shipping rate
  • Dedicated customer service

Premium Membership Perks

  • Free merchandise repackaging to minimise weight
  • Save up to 80% when you consolidate multiple packages into one shipment
  • Free merchandise storage for up to 30 days ($1/box per day after 30 days)
  • Free insurance (up to $100 declared value with additional insurance of $2 per each $100)
  • Real-time door-to-door package tracking included free of charge
  • Exclusive access to a range of great money-saving tools (e.g. price finder, insider guides)
  • No US Sales Tax payable on shipping (saving 7%)

Looks like most packages <1 kg will ship out for around $30-$50 AUD before discounts. And you can consolidate packages into one. They also ship purely by weight, not by size.

I used these guys a year ago to import my robot cat toilet because the box was so big.
This company is handy if you need to ship a huge box.

Remember to pay via the same card (if you change it at checkout then your price goes up).

    • +8

      Robot cat toilet. Love it

      • +8

If you have a robot cat, why would it need a toilet?

        • May be robot itself is cat toilet?

      • +1

Empty the bag once per week. Priceless.
No more digging for gold or dodgy smells when you come home..
You can buy the litter robot in Australia now though anyway :)

        • Some might even say you were the first!

          The Robot Cat Toilet Pioneer!

    • Cat Genie? I think they have Australian stock now. How does your cat like it, I've been considering grabbing one but it's a fair bit of cash.

      • +1
      • It was the litter robot.. very expensive.. but amazing.

The overall cost over the lifetime of your cat is effectively nothing. One yucky job saved from your life.

        • I'll check it out. I'm not so worried about the price as I think it would be worth it, but no way of knowing if puss would use it. Maybe I'll use that 90 day money back guarantee to test it out.

        • @shrodes:

Cats are inquisitive and will go straight in it.
I put some of their used litter in with clean litter and put the robot where their old tray used to be. I then put the old tray next to it.

I left the machine unplugged for the first couple of days so that they would get used to it without freaking out.

It cycles 7 minutes (default setting) after they have been to the toilet.

    • wow what a cool product! Is there something like this for humans? Oh wait we've solved that problem already.

    • Does the robot cat toilet work well? Worth the $$?

      • I paid about $750 AUD IIRC to import from the USA.
I was apprehensive about buying it but it was a better buy than the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum (requires less maintenance, doesn't have niggle issues).

100% worth the money for us (we have 2 cats who have access to outside during daylight hours).

It is so reliable and I literally poor some litter in once per week (Aldi clumping litter is cheap yet the best I found) and then remove and replace the bag once per week. I tend to shake the drawer halfway through the week as it tends to land in middle of the drawer.

The official AUS distributor launched: https://catevolution.com.au/litter-robot-iii-open-air.html

However, if you do the maths and buy from http://www.robotshop.com/en/litter-robot-iii-open-air-automa… then you can get the refurb (no doubt like new) with a 3 year warranty and shipped to your door for less using MYUS.

My other top cat purchase recently was this.. https://www.amazon.com/SmartCat-3826-Multi-Level-Cat-Climber…

It allows my cats to climb the door and get up to the top cupboard for naps.

  • +1

At checkout, is it charged in USD or AUD. Just wondering if better to register with 28degrees or bank issued Amex

    • +1

Charged in USD. If you don't use AMEX card you won't get the 30% discount. Been using them for few years. I must say that customer service is top notch. My premium membership has expired but I still get 30% off

    • +2

You could also use a citibank debit, they switched from Visa to Mastercard a while ago and gets the MC exchange rates (no fees etc) as usual.

  • +6

Good to get in before Black Friday sales in the US ;)

Also look like they just charge on dead weight and not volumetric
Dimensional Weight Does not apply. Guaranteed weight-based pricing

    Cheers OP

  • +5

30 USD for 1 kilo seems pretty steep to me

    • minus 20-30% ?

    • Out of curiosity, do you know of anything cheaper… i only ask as I haven't shipped from US before and would like to find a good price as I want to get some items in the coming weeks :)

I spotted a 20% off code for shopmate (australia post) but think they are probably one of the more expensive operators and don't consolidate packages etc

      • +2

I'm trying out www.planetexpress.com right now and they seem quite good. Not overly fast but cheap starting at about US$6-7 for one pound using their own shipping method or $9 w/ insurance. Much cheaper than the US$30 I was quoted from the store I purchased from.

        • +5

          Professor: "Good news everyone!…."

      • Not really as I haven't used services like this before. I was just saying that according to the experiences I had with amazon US and they tend to charge a few dollars for shipping to Australia

    • Most if not all forwarder charge that way for at least the first one pound. MYUS can be considered cheap if the first one kilo is $30. After that every pound is $5-$7. So price def competitive. I have used many forwarders and if you say $30 for the first one kilo is expensive than you have never sent anything through DHL or FedEx. Mind you if you can find any other forwarder that can offer you to send 1kg or 2 pound of shipment less than $30, its either the package is send using a slower method or they cut cost through other method eg bad customer service.

  • +7

    Amazon..

    • +4

      Give it about a week.

  • Amex issued card only? Or would bank issued Amex Work as well?

  • Ok, so i have a 28 degrees card. If i sign up for this i get 20-20% off shipping for 2 years and that's it? No catches?

    • 30% off for first month, 20% off after that. But yes, don’t seem to be any catches. I haven’t used them personally, but other ozbargainers in comments seem really happy with their service and customer service.

      • Can vouch for their service. I use them since 2013 every month. I have used many forwarding companies as well, and compare to all of them myUS is the best for value and service.

  • nd also I haven't used my 28 degrees card yet. This website says do I want them to bill in US or AUD, is either okay?

    • +1

Depends on which card you’re using to pay.
Weigh up pros and cons. Pick whichever is cheaper.
If your card has intl transaction fees or a bad exchange rate, then maybe not. If no fees and good FX rate, then seems no reason not to.
Idk what the FX rates are like on their website / what they use. But could be seriously inflated or maybe more efficient than using your card.
Remember, you need to pay with the card you signed up with to get the 30% discount.

      • +1

28 degrees has no international transaction fee, just hoping that there exchange rate is good, haven't checked that out yet. Any others know if 28 degrees has good exchange?

        • +1

wouldn't they just be using Mastercard base rate?

        • @urbancartel: I think so. Should be fine to pay in USD on your 28°. But if you have an AmEx, might be better to sign up with that if you think you’ll use the service after the first month. Get 30% off for the whole two years instead of only the first month.

  • How is myus compared to comgateway in terms of shipping rate and customer service? Does anyone use both of them? I wish the ANZ Amex Travel Adventures card (no fx fee)is still available to use for Myus service.

    • +1

I've used comgateway. Whilst delivery is decently quick, the cost is quite high. They don't calculate by actual weight, rather the cubic weight.

  • I got a bit tricked by this company a few years ago (not sure if this still holds). You get a quote for shipping/forwarding and one of your preference options was "select the cheapest shipping automatically" but you cannot lock it in until they package it for resend. So you have to take it on a bit of faith. Unfortunately they calculated the shipping before they applied the 30% discount for DHL, fedex etc. So even though DHL was cheapest with the 30% off I ended up paying for the "own" shipping company which was $1 less than the full DHL price. So I ended up paying way more than I should have and the shipping took ages. Tried arguing that the discount should be applied before the "cheapest" was selected by they weren't interested.

So I you want to use the DHL, fedex then make sure you select DHL, Fedex etc and not the "cheapest" shipping in the options (not sure if the system is still the same now!)

otherwise I found them pretty good…

    • +1

Can they give you quote which one is the cheapest and expected delivery time? Can they change the declared value on the delivery box?

    • You can only use DHL if you are shipping item/items from one single seller. If your items are from multiple sellers, you can only use FedEx to ship as the next cheapest option. This is what DHL requested for items ship from US to Australia.

  • Be mindful of this "Monthly and annual memberships are automatically renewed unless the Member advises MyUS.com in writing that he/she wishes not to renew his/her membership". I don't know how easy to cancel membership just before the 2 yrs period lapses.

    • +2

Cancelling isn't easy but not hard either.. there is no online way to cancel. You have to contact them and give them a reason why you are canceling then have them offer you a discount and then reluctantly let you leave. So I wouldn't leave it to the last day to cancel. Give it at least a week.

      • +3

Cancelling is pretty easy, click on account setting -> membership -> cancel membership, just keep clicking until the end to cancel your account.

        • +2

That must be new… didn't exist when I tried to cancel (but that was a couple of years ago)… they might have improved their service!

  • I've signed up. I've noticed they have shipping insurance ticked in your preferences. Do you think shipping insurance is worth it?

    • Premium Membership Perks

      • Free insurance (up to $100 declared value with additional insurance of $2 per each $100)

Shipping insurance is free, because premium membership is free. Definitely worth it.
2% per $100 value also seems very reasonable for peace of mind.

      • i usually buy about $700 on each purchase so $14 isn't bad i guess. I've been buying stuff from a shop for a while, but maybe I was never getting insurance… that would have helped with my last order i think because my order got sent back for some unknown reason to the US. They refunded me, but i lost about $25 for an international transaction fee, i wonder if insurance means i could have claimed that fee i got back for never getting my order.

  • +3

Signed up. Good deal. The best deal. I like deals.

    • Wheelin' and dealin'

    • +2

      Username checks out.

  • -2

I'm about to make an order with a US shop i usually buy stuff from. However what you do with MyUS is you post it to them in US (which costs about half the amount than sending it to Australia, but then it's forwarded onto Australia. Doesn't even sound like there would be a saving after you get the 20-30% off, because you are paying for AUS and US shipping minus the discount instead of just sending straight to Australia….

    • +2

Some people use this service because the vendor doesn't ship directly to Australia.

      • +1

I see. It all makes sense now :))

        • And also many stores have different pricing schemes for their Australian website vs their US website. In many instances it could be cheaper but slower to go from us to forwarder then to Australia vs us to Australia. Just gives us more options!

  • What do people want to buy from US.. give me some ideas mates!!

    • +3

Brands / items highly overpriced here, mostly used eBay stuff for me, especially if it's expensive since the extra trans-shipping fee is less of a factor. E.g. bought a good pair of boots, bought a used laptop.

Sometimes good deals on Amazon if they don't ship to AU, but again, has to be expensive enough to be worth it.

  • +2

Lots of places offer free shipping promotions to USA addresses so actually it’s kind of like paying only shipping from USA to here. Also sometimes they have sales or offers only valid to USA customers which we miss out if our addy is in oz.

  • Im after some specific batteries for a camera that Amazon won't ship here. Will this mob forward it on?

    • +1

Batteries are tricky. I would contact them to be sure.

  • what is their location you ship the items too? Im wondering about sales tax as some companies will charge you the local sales tax on items of course.

** found it, which is surprising how easy it was!

    • Save 20% on future shipments
    • Personal Shopper service can make purchases for you

To enjoy this offer for two full years, simply make one shipment within the first three months after becoming a member.

  • I have tried to buy items so many times from lots of places and it’s always refunded or cancelled. They don’t want it to be reshipped. Main example is Coach outlet.

  • +2

The biggest advantage to using these guys is that that calculate costs purely on weight, rather than volumetric weight like most others. This can net you significant savings if what you're sending is bulky but light. I recently got 3 x pairs of shoes sent over and it cost just over $65 from memory. I got the boxes and all the packaging too which was great and is usually thrown out with other providers to save on space.

  • After they take their huge commission theres little saving in using these "services".

  • Just tried to add their address in FL to an order and I got tax added to the total price. I thought OR is the only tax free state in the US.

    • Try Delaware or New Hampshire.

      • +1

Supposedly, they have a special tax-free postcode?

    • Postcode 34249 is a special tax free zip code that MYUS applied for. Problem is not all shops have the latest software where it could identify which zip code is suppose to be tax free. Amazon no problem. It straight away identified the zip code as tax free during checkout. While other online shops might not seem to identify it during checkout, but will adjust it and charge you accordingly on your credit card after they finalise your order. I have this happen to me on one particular shop that I buy often, their authorisation charge include the sales tax amount but the actual charge is slightly cheaper (no sales tax).

If you are buying from an online shop for the first time and they don't seem to identify the tax free zip code, my suggestion is to contact them and let them aware.

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up, the website is Kohls.com I'll contact them and let them know or just place the order and check the total amount in the invoice as you mentioned.

  • Just wondering if anyone has used this service for say Ebay.com and how does it compare with just regular international postage rates from Ebay?

    • Someone above said they did.

    • It depends on what you are shipping. If your ebay seller charge you domestic shipping cost then it can be more expensive. If not then depending on how heavy your item is it can be cheaper. You can use their shipping calculator to really find out.

  • Will they forward anything for you? Like a gun definitely not used for assassination purposes, for example?

  • is there an amex card that has no fees(international transaction, yearly) and decent exchange rate?

  • +1

As far as im aware, overseas deals are not permitted on ozb (if the site doesnt ship them to oz).
Just a friendly suggestion that it would be good if that kind of deals were allowed in a separate ("overseas deals") category, including shipping+forwarding costs.
Atm i have no idea if i should sign up for this MyUS deal or not because i dont even know how much i could win ordering from u.s. or how often i would find better deals from there. Because i have no idea where to find u.s. deals from plus i would have to sign up with a forwarder to see how much are the fees on top of the price of the product.
It wouldnt be any different than posting Costco or any other membership based site deals here.

  • I signed up for stackry which has a better business rating (BBB+ or something). MyUS just has so many negative reviews on trustpilot, which put me off… can we really trust this company? They both offer tax free zip code.

    • Stackry has 14 reviews and Myus has over 1000 reviews on trustpilot. And even with that many reviews Myus has better trustpilot score. They both have A+ better business bureau rating. So I am not sure where you are getting the info from. By the looks of it stackry doesn't do very big volume of shipments compared to Myus, so you bound to see more negatives on myUS cause they do much more shipments. You can even tell how big a company is from their social media followings. Stackry has 57k on FB, Myus has around 430k.

Which clothing and food shops would be best to take advantage of this?

  • Has anyone ever got Colognes/perfumes shipped from US?

  • Can anyone recommend company to setup mail redirect from USA to AU which can be used for setting up bank account in USA ? $25/m a bit too much for few letters.

  • Can you pick the courier DHL or Fedex etc?

Do you get a quote from them before shipping?

    • I have mentioned this above. You can use DHL if your item/s comes from one single seller. If they come from multiple sellers then you can only use FedEx. The only way to really estimate how much you will be paying is to use their shipping calculator. Roughly guess how heavy your item is and put in the weight and they will let you know how much it will cost to send to you. If your item has arrived and been logged in your inbox, you can see how much it will cost you to ship using different carrier and how much it would cost you if you add the add ons (insurance, urgent handling etc) on the right side of your inbox.

  • I just joined and made new account. But on setting and my membership profile, I will get charge $7 EVERY month not free for 2 years. Anything I can do to fix this? Otherwise regretfully I need to cancel this membership before I forget to cancel it.

    • So I noticed why, I didnt click the picture above and just went directly to MyUs.com "normal" page.
I've cancelled my account and re-joined with same email and same amex card.
The result, instead of having US address directly (like previous setup), I need to wait their manual approval in 72 hours. So we'll see :) Any helping comments are welcome. As HopShopGo regular customers, I found this is a good deal. So please help if you are able. Thank you ❤︎

      • Hi, same as you I am a regular HopShopGo customer and would like to give these guys a go. Some difference I can see now is storage is only for 30 days (I have 60 with Prime) and you have to pay $1 per month (I think) per package exceeding the 30 days. But no repackaging fee.
