Sim card for Asia and Europe

Hi I will be be in China, Russia, HK, Japan and some other Asian countries and possibly elsewhere in the next 12 months.
I am just wondering what sim card do people usually use? Is it still recommend to get one in the country you are at or are deal here in Aus getting better?

    Couldn't you make one from duct tape with a penknife?

      You'd need an egg and a metre of 3mm bungy cord as well.

      Yes, Starhub for Asia.

      For Russia just buy it when you get there

        But I need to be in Singapore to get the Starhub? Can't I get it while in Aus or in China etc?
