Got this Offer with a Domain Name Report.
Don't know if the $2.60 price example is in US$.
Still a bargain, if it is, IMO.

Just be aware of the domain renewal pricing before buying domains. The .life domain for example will cost $52 when you go to renew it next year. https://au.godaddy.com/tlds/life-domain

    • Good point!

Of course, if you create an Attractive domain,
you can sell it (maybe after 60 days…?)
& use the profit to pay for a wildly overpriced one. :-)

      • We start with a cheap.life, after one year, it becomes an expensive.life

1 year domains really aren't worth the hassle. Just end up being scammed for high renewal.

    FYI: Avoid GoDaddy.

And redpen is right. There's no point buying one of these domains unless you were going to anyway. .com is USD $8 yearly. This is USD $52 yearly.

I would never buy from godaddy again. the renewal fees, the auto added fees and the hassle is just not worth the time, money and fustration

Don't use Godaddy, worlds worst domain registrar, they are a bunch of *&^%s.

I use namecheap these days, good registrar without all the sly (almost criminal) tactics.

    • Care to elaborate on those who don't know what tactics you are talking about? Just did a name search on a domain name and it seems way more expensive with namecheap compared to Godaddy.

      • Initial registration may cost more, but not when you factor in renewals, who-is-protection, etc.

For example, poor tactic: I wanted a domain name, let's say mysonsname.com (replace that with my sons real name (eg GregDolittle.com - not his name), it was not available at the time was owned by another individual).

I put in a "I want this domain when it's available order" or what ever it is called with godaddy. So the going rate for mysonsname.com is about $20, it's not a popular name and not something that is useful to anyone with a different name (so demand is pretty low)..

Anyway, the previous owner did not renew, now instead of the domain name being returned to the pool of available names, GoDaddy now own it and for the past 5 years have been trying to suck $1700 out of me for the domain. IMO that's a low life act - they are a bunch of *&^$%s

The other obvious sly tactic is to have cheap .com purchase and who-is protection, but the renewals are way more expensive and you never get discount/offers for these you'll have to pay top dollar every time.

Then comes the time to move registrars.. Their process for this can take a lot of effort, is all hidden under menus, click, click search, etc - this may have changed, it's been a few years since I've used them - but you can see it was made intentionally difficult to transfer away.

I don't trust GoDaddy at all, they are morally corrupt.

      • Additionally, have a read of this: http://antigodaddy.com

They are worse that I ever imagined… And having experienced their poor form first hand I'm of the mind to believe the stories on that site.

  • No more Godaddy.
    Enough is enough.

  • Same here, not a fan of them after using them for 10 years due to the many reasons above.

  • The two I would recommend and use often are, VentraIP Great Australian provider and Uniregistry is a good US provider both include everything you need with a domain name registration no hidden charges or hidden costs for extras everything that you need with the domain name registration comes with your domain registration.

  • Any idea if it will work for domain renewals? For a .net, $18 feels ridiculous through Ventra/Zuver.

    • If the domain name is already registered somewhere else you need to check to see if the coupon works for transfers not renewals.
