I'm in the same boat. Want the cheapest 1899 macbook pro (for <1500), and wasn't ready to pull the trigger during the myer sale a couple weeks ago. Now i'm willing to wait until after christmas/new years though.
The best deal you can get is 5% off JB Hi-Fi giftcards through entertainment book or similiar, and then wait for a 10% Macbooks sale, then go to a few jb hifis and look for someone willing to throw in a case or an adaptor.
Example: 1899 - 10% = $1709 - 5% = $1623
Which is still far off my <$1500 budget. Which I can't justify more with the adaptors I'll need to purchase.
Yeah that sounds like a good option though.. i although wanted to buy the 256gb mac's because 128 or even 256 runs out of storage pretty fast as ill be devloping apps most of the time.
have to look for the jbhifi 5% off thingy.. thanks anyways.. any clue about approx what time of the year or month the apple sales break in?
Why not wait for the next ebay 20% off? check if macbooks are included the night before
