Just got my $200 voucher from the phone deal…perfect timing

  • what are the exclusions listed on the bottom. The picture is too blurry to read.

  • I can't see the T&C's in that image. Would this include preorders? I want to buy the Terminator 2 remaster.

    [edit] Damn.

    • -4

      Would this include preorders?

That's only one of them, there are other exclusions too…

    Prices are live online

  • I will wait for Jb hifi buy 1 get 1 free promotion ^o^

    • It only happens once a year. You may wait until later next year.

Nowadays ppl still buy DVDs? Most my friends are using streaming services to watch dramas or movies

    • +37

Most my friends are using streaming services

Some people have moved onto the NBN though, and no longer have internet access.

      • Hahahahaha you're right

      • hi :)

      • :( the state of Australia's internet today, unfortunately.

      • The fact that you have dimmed views on everything sometimes does enlighten me.

      • Blessing in disguise, perhaps.

        • Nbn refund money can be used to buy bluray

      • Ironically it's probably because jv voted Liberal/Nationals who have completely derailed NBN.

    • +2

      Probably buying blu rays

I still buy movies on BluRay despite having both Netflix and Stan subscriptions. The reason being that movies aren't on those services forever. So the movie I want might not be on Netflix yet, or it might have already been and gone. So yeah, for a movie that I love that I know I'll want to watch repeatedly over the years, I'll buy it on Blu so I've got it there when I want it.

Plus, it enables me to lend them to my mum. She's in a nursing home, not particularly tech savvy, so trying to explain Netflix to her was a lost cause. But she can work a DVD / BluRay player, so I take a movie or two in for her every week or two and that keeps her happy with something to watch.

Speaking for myself, at least, the streaming services haven't replaced my own movie collection, they've replaced TV.

Nowadays people are listening to compressed audio and sometimes without the option of no surround sound? yuck.

      • I can't upvote you enough. I gave you one, but here, have a thousand in simulated upvotes.

  • +1

Are they still updating prices or are they not all priced changed till tomorrow as im finding a few not with anything off price,i thought these sales covered all not some.

    • +1

It should apply to all except for pre orders… Although Spiderman Homecoming which has been released is still showing full price.

      • I have seen a few full price no discount so is this something they are starting to do advertise all but its not. I know pre orders are not part of deal but everything else should be.

  • +2

So glad I didn't end up buying your name today.

    • +4

I'd probably wait until Madman has announced whether their bluray release for Your Name is issue free:

      http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=282057&page=38

      • Ouch. Thanks for the heads up. I was almost going to buy it.

      • Looks like the UK version was mastered by madman. Screenshot comparisons are marked UK/AU too.
        :'(

      • +3

I was going to pick up a copy today, but maybe I'll hold off.

For those who can't see exactly what the issue is from the above link, I went back a few pages, it looks like the UK version (which was mastered by Madman, so we have the same issue), has some compression artifacts:

        Here is the comparison picture:

    • Saw "Your Name" twice at Hoyts last year, absolutely amazing.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…

      Just released today as well.

Will go check out in store how much is the collectors edition.

    • I just bought two copies on blu-ray and it ended up going through at full price even though it's listed at 20% off when you search. I've sent a message through to JB to get the appropriate discount refunded which I'm sure they'll do, but still a bit of a hassle.

n.b. one for wifey and one for bro in law.

    • When I was in Japan last month, I found a copy of the 4K collectors edition, pre-owned (in spectacular condition) for 64000¥. It’s breathtaking.

      • +1

        $700AUD?

        • +1

          Whoops, one 0 too many.

          6400¥

  • So how does this work with the 2 for 40 4K titles? The majority of eligible titles are now discounted singularly below $20, so the bundle deal is obsolete. Is the bundle price also discounted?

    • +4

      They are 2 for $32 now ;)

  • Sales rep mentioned 20% off computers tomorrow as well.

  • Thank you. I have been waiting for too long to get some 4k Bluray, playing nicely on my new Sony X9300E

    It's LIVE NOW

Do ozbarganers still depend upon upon old fashioned DVDs and blurays to watch movies..

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +2

      You betcha! 👍

    • +8

Streaming services/downloads rarely match physical media on quality. Plus, there's just something more tactile and rewarding actually owning it.

      • +2

Don't think streaming is up to the same quality in terms of video and audio as a physical release. Thats why many still prefer to buy media.

        • That's exactly what Captain Howdy said.

      • +4

This + 100. Went to stream The matrix on PS4 last week 2.0 no 5.1 option. No thanks.

I guess for people streaming on their 11 inch laptop screen with earbuds its fine.

    • +1

      Yep!
Video and audio quality is lacking on all the streaming services I've tried.

  • Do they still have the ridiculous $1/movie shipping?

Working straight through the sale :(

  • Can anybody coinfirm that all titles have been discounted? As I still see DVD and Blu-ray titles that don't show a ticket and discount. Just a price which seems to be the samne as before the sale started. Even though the deal says that the displayed price is the discounted price.

    • They have not. Also some titles show discount in search but not in cart. It would be safe to purchase ones like these and contact JB for a refund of the difference.

      • looks like they fixed the discount glitch.

  • +5

Fingers crossed for a bonus 5% email voucher.

  • +1

Working, got Deadpool and Revenent 4k for $32

  • Combines with the '2 for $30 promotion'; making it 2 for $24.

  • Cheers. Been waiting for the 20% off since I noticed they'd dropped the Gurren Lagann Blu-ray set to $95 from $140. Came down to $76, so not too shabby.

    • Its was on sale on zavvi for $17.99 pounds sterling which I was fortunate to buy sometime ago. Might want to wait for black friday sale.

  • Your name is a beautiful anime.

Love the part when he wakes up in her body ….morning massages lmao coughs

  • Purchased Westworld 4K tin today since good reviews and one of the first TV shows to be 4K disc, however ended up returning it after opening as the tin had dents in the back behind the cardboard. We tried another set but also same issue hidden behind the cardboard, therefore would recommend those purchasing to check the tin before heading home with it (if you care about dents that is).

  • +1

Just be mindful in true JB Hi-Fi fashion they've now pulled the 4K titles (like Man of Steel & Pacific Rim) out of the 2 x $20 section and now put them in the 2 x $30 area. Complete bastards. When they went on sale three weeks ago I had been waiting for a 20% off sale to happen and now they move them into the more expensive tier.

I saw it in store myself too but see the comments in this link about some 4K movies originally being in the 2 x $20 tier:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/335752

  • Is the 20% off supposed to be automatic. just purchased 3 dvd's at full price in store with no "discount" line

    • It’s expired I think. At least online.

      • you are correct. finished yesterday. the little unclear star said 4 days only ie false advertising if you missed it

        • Sorry folks the catalog got it wrong again and I posted this well in advance of seeing the deal up on the website.. :-(
