You might have heard of Click Frenzy and Black Friday. But have you heard of Singles Day?

Singles Day started out as an obscure “anti-Valentine’s” celebration for single people in China back in the 1990s. However, it didn't actually become a retail festival until 2009 when Chinese retail giant, Alibaba decided to use it as a sales event.

On the 11 of November every year, Chinese retailers join together to promote discounts for a single day; and as short lived as it may seem, more than a billion transactions were processed on 11 Nov last year.

Due to it's success it has attracted the attention of Western retailers and has penetrated into various markets outside of China and SE Asia.

    As many Xiaomi smart home zigbee sensors as I can afford. And if it gets cheap enough one of those LED yeelight ceiling lights ($70USD is too much).

        Unfortunately the coloured models don’t have temperature changing so there’s not that much to control on it. I’ll just have to save pennies and fork out for the other model.

        Oh and according to yeelight forums there’s a new 800+ lumen version of the RGBW E27 globe coming shortly, It’s being certified now. Will have to stock up on them too

    Some of the things I'm watching on Ali. I haven't finished price researching however.

    Bunch of UGreen cables. The extra price compared to generics is justified by the quality.

    Quirky Remax products. Visited their stores in Asia last year and a lot of fun.

    Can't do an Ali shopping spree without toilet paper!

    XingBao Bricks. This one and this one have a level of detail you won't find in LEGO. Possibly this classic Lepin Western Set too.

    Tomorrow is a big day - Remembrance Day and also Single's Day.

    Without detracting from the significance of Remembrance Day, what kind of bargain will you be looking for during this shopping festival?
