Best (Budget) Drone to Use with GoPro Hero 5

I'm very new to both drones and GoPro!

I just bought a Hero 5 to use on my honeymoon in 4 weeks from the GoodGuys eBay sale for $397. We're going to the Maldives, to a small island resort.

I'd like to buy a (budget) drone that I can use to fly above the island and get some great shots. We're very tight for money… any recommendations?

Probably not cost effective if money is tight. You'd need the drone (about $250) as well as a stabilizer (another $250 for a cheapy). The setup wouldn't be integrated - ie you'd have fire up the camera manually to take video/pics every X seconds then fly the drone around hoping for the best. GoPro Karma might have been a better choice in hindsight as you can disassemble it into a handheld gimbal+camera as well as use it as a fully integrated drone.

Check that your resort allows drones too (some Maldives ones do not anymore).

go for DJI Spark, easy to use, lot of functions, easy to carry, and decent quality shot (720p). not the cheapest or most budget but you should consider that. resell value probably higher too.

    $520 dji spark http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-DJI-SPARK-1080p-12MP-5-colour…

but i recommend to get fly more combo approx 800-900, got more battery and controller

I came across this in general reading which might be interesting https://dronegarageblog.wordpress.com/2017/11/06/bayangtoys-…

  • The Kaiser Baas have their Delta drone from 700 to 180, you should check it out. I am looking to get both a drone and a Go Pro myself and not sure about that brand!

    • Damn. I wish I got this one instead! It can directly connect with a go pro!

I got the X21. I came yesterday, I'm yet to test it out.

        • Thanks. I thought it was already the discounted price.

        • can you do mission planning on android app on the delta drone?

  • Can you post a few shots of the resort that you take with your drone. Would be great to see a few.

I will! I plan to strap my GoPro to the drone, I will take some with the standard camera too.

I literally crashed the drone (badly) and it punctured the lithium battery and the whole thing burst into flames.

  • Holy crap. Bad luck man that’s terrible.
Did anything survive - the GoPro at least?!

Did you manage to get any vids beforehand or did it live a very short life
