Parker Sonnet Stainless Steel & Chrome Fountain Pen $40 (+$5.50 postage) at Peters of Kensington

160

From what I can tell this is a fantastic deal (cheapest I could find elsewhere was around $145 AUD).

Description:
Your first sonnet is closer than you think.
The Sonnet Fountain Pen is a writing instrument to pen the words of a great mind. A world away from the clunky, poor quality pens that so many of us are writing with, the Sonnet is an elegant and timeless piece worth cherishing.
Made from stainless steel, Parker’s Sonnet Fountain Pen’s matte finish is in stark contrast with its shiny chrome trim – yet the contrast works so well. Its rhodium-plated nib makes the perfect finishing touch.
Ideal for slipping into your favourite notebook, the pen is perfectly formed and incredibly convenient. As delicate as the first lines of a sonnet, this is a pen that will lead you to writing great things.

There are a few other pens on sale as well:

Parker 5th Urban Premium Chome Trim $32
Parker 5th IM Premium Gunmetal Chisel Chrome Trim $27
Parker Sonnet Chrome Fountain Pen & Ballpoint Pen Set $211
Parker Urban Premium Ebony Ballpoint Pen w/Chrome Trim $15
Parker Urban Premium Metallic Ebony Rollerball Pen $17
Parker Urban Premium Pearl Ballpoint Pen $15
Parker Urban Premium Pearl Rollerball Pen $17

Available until 10am on Thursday the 9th of November, unless stock runs out first.

Just get the $12 jinhao one off ebay. Comes with free cartridges. I bought two.

  • No chatter re this?

Would be interested to know what it's like.

I think most of us are happy enough with our xiaomi mijia sign pens :)

Try looking for previous deals on fountain pens and see if you can find anything relevant, or do a google search for reviews.

    • I ordered one, will let you know when it gets here. As nice as a cheap Jinhao can be, there is definitely a significant difference between those and more expensive pens. This will be my first $100+ pen (if we are going RRP), so I'm looking forward to comparing it to my Lamy safari.

For future reference to anyone interested in grabbing one of these if they ever come on sale again:

The pen itself is lovely. Light, much lighter than any of my Jinhao x750s and comparable weight wise with a Lamy safari. The stainless steel nib writes beautifully, no scratchiness that I have noticed at all, and that is with testing on both your run of the mill computer paper, and a better quality paper designed for calligraphy. The cap can be posted securely if you have a preference for writing that way (which I do). The pen comes in a lovely box, with both a blue ink cartridge and one of Parkers piston ink converters. I used the ink converter (first time using a Parker brand converter) and it filled very easily. It's made in France and production dated as the last quarter of the year 2005. I can see why so many people adore this pen and use it for their everyday writer, it's truly lovely.

Kinda wishing I'd picked up two of them now. Alas.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll have them on sale again soon winks at any Peters of Kensington reps that might be hovering.

EDIT: gasps You guys! Sale price is still up as at 2.48pm.

    • Have posted a quick review further down. I feel like I'm spamming my own post, but I've no idea if I can tag a user or not. Hope it helps.
