A lot of people have wives/husbands/partners with supplementary cards. You can activate it on as many as you have.
You are missing the point. - ‘2 cards required’ in title
I just tried, supplementary card does not count. It has to be a different card with different number.
Have you got a bank issued amex? If you have an amex-issued amex then supplementary cards have different card numbers to the primary card. My wife's card is different to mine, and several times we've activated offers on both cards and used them, including the BP offers and the previous Harvey Norman offer about 6-7 months back.

I sincerely doubt that. Precisely because of 'deals'/offers like this, as well as the annual (or sometimes more frequent) 'Shop Small' promotion I would be surprised if at least 25% of AMEX card-holders did not have multiple AMEX cards.
