  • Can I use it on macbook?

    • AFAIK, you can't for the old models. Because the Macbook cannot pickup the high speed (1333Mhz) of these RAMs. I cannot tell about the new models though.

      Cheers,
      Peter

  • They must have too many of these 4GB sticks…

  • What about the new iMacs? Will this work in them? I know this memory is faster spec than those on the machines but I was under the impression the RAM will clock down to match what's in the machine.

Also can you just buy the one stick or do you need to fill both of the remaining empty RAM slots simultaneously?

    • To be honest I'm not very familiar with Mac, and probably IT guys at Whirlpool and Overclockers could help you out better.

From what I understand it's not recommended to buy RAM with speed higher than your Mac can handle, and it should be installed in pair.

    • macs use intel cpu's motherboards and DDR3 memory a quick google will give you the info about supported memory, but if i had to guess i would say yes it does work but its not very easy to get into a mac to install it!

      • Actually the RAM is usually the only part of a Mac which is easy access. A couple of screws and you're in. As far as the rest of the machine goes, only a couple of models have easy access for the hard drives.

  • far out this is super cheap! and i just received my ram from the US for my mac.
from what i've read from 'macrumors.com' the mac would simply run the ram at slower bandwidth.
what are the timings may i ask?

    • thats what the motherboard usually does. If the motherboard supports the faster stick, however you have a 2nd stick which is slower, it will just downclock the stick to the slowest stick.

  • Good price

  • Peter, can we refund [maybe with some restocking fee] if it does not work on a Macbook / iMac?

    Thanks

    • Lol wouldn't it be easier to find out if it worked on a mac, rather than waiting it to get delivered, trying it, then sending it back.

    • I'm sorry, but we could not do that for this item. For memory products we only sell genuine items in brand new condition and sealed boxes. We could not resell 'tested' or 'used' memory products to other customers and therefore, could not accept these items to be returned due to incompatibility issues. (Of course if the item is manufacturing defective and informed to us within 7 days since arrival then we will exchange another brand new replacement straight away).

So please do researches and choose your order carefully.

      Thanks
      Peter

      • A-data is not a very known brand from RAM ( they are for flash drives )+ with the niche market of Apple product, it makes research even more difficult.

Anyway I'll just order other brand from the States. They cost pretty much the same anyway now :)

  • I bought two sticks of the notebook ram on tuesday night and they arrived in the mail today.
Considering shipping was free and they come with a lifetime warranty I couldn't be happier with this deal.
