LOL 720p and you want $900 for it? This is OZBargain not OZRipoff

    • I think the selling feature here is that it's battery powered and super portable and has all the casting stuff built in, but hey, feel free to complain :)

      • There's been plenty of that under $300 with similar or better specs. Funniest thing is that a lot of the Pico/Micro projectors run off MicroUSB, so battery can be supplied by USB battery packs if it does not have its own.

        • Those ones from Gearbest? Yeah, thanks but no thanks. I really doubt any of them do anything near 720p.

        • @playswithfire: The ones from GB (Vivibright) are native 720p (1280x800). Soniq Australia had almost thrown out their equivalent model to this BENQ for $199 from their warehouse sale (Android inbuilt and even has a TV tuner). Even Dell's M115HD Projector is only $799 RRP without any discounts.

I've had a few postable projectors from sony mp-cl1 to mixrovision.
The UO smartbeam laser projector was one of the best. It's laser light, bright for its size (portable and small) and no focus knobs required no matter if closw or far its in foxus and it's 720p too. Can get this for around $430 on eBay.

What's the difference between this one
Sony MP-CL1A HD Mobile Projector Portable Home Cinema HDMI WiFi Bluetooth

I am very interested in this one but still can't justify $749…

Waiting for 20% off will pull the trigger… lol

      • $749? Sounds like you're getting ripped off. While looking for reviews on the Sony MP-CL1A I found it can be had for under 450AUD delivered to Melbourne.

      • Hello. Your question isn't clear. I'm guessing you want to know the difference between the sony mpcl1 and the one from this post?

The sony is very dim. It's 34 laser lumens which is about 45 led lumens as laser are perceived brighter. You'll need a dark room (no light) to watch something 50inch size. The sony isn't 720p even though it says so. Some reviews by professionals says that it can not deliver 720p resolution. To be honest I would no spend $750 on it. At most $400.

The one on this ad I'm not familiar. But 300lm will be major difference in brigness. Also you'll need to focus this one while the sony laser you won't.

But I've had 2 sony mpcl1 and the UO smartbeam I told you has a better resolution and is brighter (60 laser lumens which is about 100 led lumens). It's also cheaper than sony.
I got the sony ones for about $300-350 second hand.
But I would suggest you spend $400-430 on a uo smartbeam laser projector as the brightness is much higher than the sony and it's capable of reproducing real 720p (better image quality).

Other good brands for micro projectors is Aaxa and optoma. Acer makes some good low cost ones too. And LG also. I have a LG PW800 and that's pretty good for bedroom, just needs powersource.
But LG makes some good battery operated ones with good lumens. Research and youll find something good.

        • I forgot to add about Celluon PicoPro. I've had them too and it's the exact same image processor and mechanism as the sony.
They now have a newer version that is apparently 200lumens. So I can't comment on that one. But the PicoPro and sony MP-cl1 are the same. Sony uses celluon technology.

This projector is native 720P and 300 LED lumens - you need to see how bright this is in real life to appreciate it!

It has Android built in, Wifi and Bluetooth, Speakers and so much more.

It truly is an all in one device. You can Airplay to it, Miracast etc. Connect a playstation or Xbox - use it at home or away or for business presentations.

I just spent a weekend at the hifi show with people reactions that were always "what..running off battery?" - "that brightness from that" - surely that picture is not coming from that little box" …

If it was cheap, dark 480P projector I could agree with some of the above statements but this little thing is a genuine monster that is deserving of all the praise that is being heaped upon it from external sources.

Sure there is cheaper - but there is nothing better in this space from anyone! :)

We all live technology, but if you bring this along to camping then you've missed the point of camping. Leave this at home and you'll enjoy the camping better. If you'd rather watch movies instead then stay at home.

    • +1

That's just, like, your opinion man!

    • Camping is, like, doing your normal stuff you'd do at home but, like, doing it somewhere else, like, in a tent? I'm Ron Burgundy?

    • I dunno. Watching Razorback just before bedtime could be fun.

    • +1

why get philosophical, but then tell ppl how to enjoy life?

    • outdoor movies while camping are awesome
you can't easily use a projector during the day while camping anyway

    • Not everyone enjoys the same things the same way. If that is how you like to go camping, great. Enjoy. But if others want to go camping with more tech gear than Q provides to Bond in the movies, that's fine too.

    • Spot on - Should probably have called it "GLAMPING!!" - you make a good point though :)

    Cheaper on eBay:-

    $889.00 - 5% code P5OZZIE = $844.55 FAST 'N FREE or C&C Woolworths

    • -1

Please read the entire post above - not even close to cheaper! :)

      • Please read Member Owl's comment below proving not every prospective customer wants a BenQ Trevolo Speaker. $844.55 is cheaper than your $899.00.

  • Hey rep, can you do a better deal without the Bluetooth speaker?

    • We cannot I am sorry - The deal runs until tonight and the speaker is truly free! You could "OZB the deal" and buy the pack and sell the speaker back off and keep the $250 from that to offset the purchase price ;)
