I'm going to get a refund shortly via the way of PayPal.
I want to withdraw it so that means I will link a bank account.
Obviously I've heard horror stories about linking bank accounts especially if I do sell down the line
If I link my account and then delink. Will PayPal keep my details and if things go pearshaped down the track. They will auto link?
Also. If I link a savings account such as ingdirect. Can they still withdraw out of it?

Any type of account. Paypal will make 2 small deposits in to the account. You then verify amounts to verify the account with PayPal.

But if in case of a dispute and PayPal refunds the customer and tries to take out of the account does it matter if it's a savings account or a indirect type of account?
Refunds will go into the card that you purchased from.
Don't take refunds via paypal if you didn't pay with paypal originally.
You will almost 100% get chargebacked and you'll be out of pocket. They will pull the money out of the bank account, or at least try to. You then could be subject to debt collection.
Sorry I meant if a charge back was done and I was the seller and I had to give a unfair refund. Would having a ING direct or big 4 account linked mean they could take it out of the account directly
From experience, they can't just take the money out of your bank account. What they'll do is make your PayPal account in the negatives and restrict your account. Depending how much you owe, they may even send debt collectors.
I only use prepaid credit card for my paypal . ( never use your bank account link to it ).
once you delink then the details are gone.
they can withdraw money from your paypal if it still linked, but only if you "give automatic permission".
e.g. if seller fees are paid through paypal and the bank account is still linked but the paypal balance is not enough .
if you really want to play it really really safe then open a secondary paypal account which you link to a bank account. then transfer the money from your regular PP to the temp PP account via friends and family. then shut down the secondary account.
but delinking removes bank details.
