PSU Requirements for Upgrade- Want to Add 1060 6GB

Hi all, i currently have a system and want to upgrade it to use it for gaming, I have the following:
i5-3470
Asus H61M-E
16gb ddr3
128gb ssd
500gb hdd
a PCI USB 3.0 card
430W 80+ Bronze PSU (IT is an ANTEC EA-430D)
I want to add a GTX 1060 6gb into the build.
Without any overclocking, can my PSU handle this?
Thanks in advance

  • Add all the details into pc part picker and it will tell you the required psu

I'm guessing a gold rated 500w unit would be perfect but you might get away with a 430w

Get a gtx 1050ti..Gtx 1060 will stress the PSU.

    Recommended system power = 400W

Looks like your PSU is enough.

  • Won't have any issues. Just make sure you go for a 1060 that only requires a 6-pin PCIe power connector as that's all your PSU has (some like the Strix 1060, G1 gaming, MSI X require a 6+2 connector).

EDIT: The whole system shouldn't draw any more than ~120W under load without a GPU (source), and the GPU no more than ~150W under extreme load in very short bursts (source).

  • Not a problem. 430W PSU is plenty enough.
