Airlie Beach with wife and 1yr old, tips needed!

Hey we're heading to Airlie Beach tomorrow, which we've never been. We've nothing planned except for travel and accommodation.

Need some suggestions on activities with a toddler and cheap car hire?

All suggestions are appreciated :)

Why are you booking a car rental the day before if you want to save money?

  Been up to our eyeballs with work and moving house we just overlooked it unfortunately.
  
  Been looking on the Hertz website and they quoted me $319 for Suzi Swift for 6 days. I've locked it in but I'm going to keep looking

The lagoon at Airlie is great, and free. Parking's not so free from memory though!
