10% off Apple Computers at DSE

510

http://dicksmith.com.au/computers/apple-computers

That page lists apple computers at 10% off. Great deal, and 10% is probably as much as you'll ever got off a mac.

Of note, the new macbook air's are discounted too and starts at $1,079.10 beating edu/epp/apple-on-campus discounts.

Price match with apple store if no stock at your local store.

  • any word on wether it applies to CTO models?

    • it doesn't apply to CTO models.

You can get Apple to match the 10% off, then CTO it, though…

  • re: Price match with apple store if no stock at your local store.
Do you mean apple store will price match DS?

  • Oh dammit, I just bought my Macbook Air last week, Reckon I could get apple to price match it now? haha

    • i would say yes.

      • I also bought a macbook air last week, so how should I get apple to price match it?

        • they have a 2wk returns policy i think. so you ask for either price match or return the product.

  • Looking at their website, they don't list the mac mini but they have the applecare for it. AARGH! Do they actually have minis in store?

  • Looks like the i5 27" iMac isn't on sale :( I was hoping to pick up a CTO 27" iMac i7. Anyone know how long these sales tend to last for? Won't be able to get into a store until Friday this week

  • Saw this at the city m8

Anyone know if you can price match @ apple store then add the extra ram for the MBA 11"?

  • DAMN. I bought a new mac book air on the weekend from JBHIFI. I wish they had a price guarantee :( I checked DSE before too, this must only just came out, sob!

  • +4

JBHIFI have a 14 day price guarantee

Take in proof of purchase and print out the DSE website

they will refund you the difference

if you experience any problems, ask to speak to a manager.

BTW JBHIFI will do 10% off CTO machines from my experience, as the sales staff make more money from them etc

If they say they wont do 10% off, let them know you will take your business else where

They will take the sale apposed to letting you walk, and if they do there a idiot

love to know why I got a neg

as I know this is the case as I used to work at a JBHIFI

probably a staff member not wanting me to ruin there chances of making more commission of people buying macs

if you EVER have any problems with staff not agreeing to price matches just speak to the manager.

      easy…

if you get no where ask for there name and the head offices phone number

I've voted + to balance out the douche, but I've chosen to ignore negative voting on comments. I don't think negative votes do anything (unless there are an abundance and than it hides the comment) and short of troll comments, I don't see the purpose of the neg vote on comments.

Should be same with deals, if you got a problem with the comment, should have to explain why.

      • I just gave you a plus as well to put you one more up on the knob that did it :)

FYI sales staff do not make any more money off a CTO

      • from my understanding it was 2% of the sale when i was working there.

  • Prices look pretty good here!

Do you know anywhere which will beat the DSE prices?
e.g. is it worth going in to JB or anywhere else to try negotiate a better deal based on the DSE prices?

    • I would try JB

as they will match the price and will be able to offer discounts on other items such as bags or AppleCare

if there not helpful, just leave

      • interesting…. would JB match the price if it was the 10%+5%woolworths discount i can get?

        • do you mean staff discount 5%?

Anyone knows if we can upgrade the memory (tempting to get MBA, but don't want 2GB RAM) at DSE?
    Will this 10% still apply?

  • I just went to DSE Melbourne City store. The guys there are a bit clueless about this 10% off, and brushed it off saying it's Online only…

So guess I need to match price it elsewhere if i want it instantly.

    • Yes, they're rather clueless, I just went there asking about possible memory upgrade, and they told me, I need to buy first from them, take the notebook and bring it to Apple Store for upgrade (well, all online review that I read saying MBA is not upgradeable due to its construction, then how am I suppose to bring it to Apple for memory upgrade?). And they don't have stock anyway, for the entry level I want.

    • "Price Reflects 10% off Price Online Exclusive Offer Offer ends 14-Nov-10"

It does say "Online Exclusive", unless DSE retail stores are willing to price-match their own online store.

  • How do you CTO with a reseller?

  • Popped into DSE George St and asked about adding 2GB RAM. Store rep said it could be done but would need to order and would take 10 days. Asked if the 10% was applied before or after the upgrade and he said if bought with AppleCare, it would be after, otherwise, it would be before.

  • I bought a Macbook 2.4 GHz from Harris Tech 3 weeks back for $1,067.
Really good prices at DSE for woolies staff cause of another 5% off.

  • Apple Store in Syd price matched after I asked. Easy. Plenty of stock! Thanks OP!

    • Apple store in Doncaster Melbourne wouldn't do it - they saw it was online only.
Wondering if Dick Smith will get any more in stock in time.

  • Price match at JB Hifi for Macbook Pro 13" for $1300

    Thanks OP!

    • 128G model???? How the maths work??

      $1439 on their web!

Can you tell me as I'm leaving for holiday and want to buy it tomorrow :)

      • yeah thats right, johndoe789 bought the mbp ur thinking of the air, i also bought the air, so =]

well i put down 10% anyways…collecting it when it gets here….

  • Well all my local DSE's were out of stock of the 13" MBP with 2.4Ghz processor, actually Highpoint had some but I couldn't be bothered driving all that way. Waltzed on in to The Good Guys at Hoppers Crossing with their theme song ticking away in my head. The sales dude asked if I needed help. I asked if they price matched Apple products. Without batting an eyelid he said of course. I showed him the DSE web page. He checked with the boss and 30 seconds later came back and said we can match it. I also got the Canon MP560 printer for $149 so with the Apple rebate of $130 I got it for $19. I then got a magic mouse and he even took 10% off that. To top it off there was none of this surcharge rubbish for credit card payment. The dude even offered to help carry it all to the car. So a big thumbs up to The Good Guys down at Hoppers Crossing.

  • Can anyone in Melbourne working for Woolworths help me to get staff discount of 5% :)
