Amazing product designed to not only kill you but also destroy the environment (palm oil)

I have been known to sneak a little from time to time, but can they at least remove the planet destroying bit ;)

    • +2

People in the future will call us barbaric, shortsighted and idiotic for passively allowing the ecological destruction caused by the continued consumption of palm oil products.

I may get down voted for this opnion but I would suggest those who don't know too much on the topic to start reading about it.

      It's fairly grim :(

Definitely no downvotes for people bagging nutella on the palm oil issue.
But would genuinely like to know are there other decent supermarket options in a similar hazelnut Choc spread goodness minus the palm oil?
Happy to pay more, it's an unhealthy yet delicious weekend treat.

        People in the future will

Just like us today looking back, I doubt people will be spending their time fretting about it. I'm not anyway. ;-p

    • It says "Sustainable and segregated certified palm oil" on the label. Are they lying?

    • It's pretty stupid to blame palm oil. Palm oil is not the blame, it is the Indonesian government allowing companies to cut down the forests to grow crops. Palm plants grows best in that region, they could grow another oil producing plant but it would have less output per acre and they would need to cut down more forests to produce the same amount of oil. In that sense, Palm oil is probably the best for the environment.

Just avoid buying anything from Indonesia, same as if you would not just avoid buying soap and lampshades from WW2 Germany.

Today a lady at Woolies was alternating between full price Nutella and woolies branded chocolate spread, placing the woolies one in her basket (same price as this Nutella).
I then let her know of this bargain @ Coles.

I'm a Catsup, Ketchup person too.

      • Catsup… every time I see that word, I think of when I saw a cat throwing up when I was a kid. Cats up! (Now everyone that reads this will too.)

        • I thought of some brand of cat nip.

3/4 of a kilo of Nutella. Damn, thats hardcore.

  • Beats the $2 30g novelty jar I bought at Kmart earlier today.

  • I sometimes buy the WW brand. Is 'real' nutella better/different?

Dunno but the Aldi one is awesome and always like $2

  • Sounds good. I will go get one, along with the large Xmas promo Toblerone for $4.95.

    • If your lucky, they might throw in a free Orangutan too.
