It's not really a deal - T&C says it's not applicable to any Qantas Money cards, or any card where the points are automatically transferred to Qantas. That basically rules out… uh, every card. I don't know of any left that don't auto-sweep.

    • CBA, AMEX and probably Citibank

      • +1

Citibank doesn't have transfer of points to Qantas. You need to sign up for their separate auto-sweep Qantas card (and pay a higher annual fee).

I’m pretty sure CBA auto sweep

      • CBA automatically sweeps to Qantas once you set it up. The only actual transfer partner I can name is Amex Platinum (NOT Platinum Edge)

  • how does that rule out every card?
amex ascent premium program allows you to transfer
so do a lot of other programs

    • What are these lot of other programs? ANZ auto sweeps. nab auto sweeps. CBA auto sweeps. Citibank auto sweeps. HSBC auto sweeps. The only one without auto sweep is as you correctly pointed out Amex MR Ascent Premium, which requires a Platinum Charge ($1200 annual fee) to join.

      • Well, not true.

Credit cards there are only a couple. AMEX ascent premium and another one I cant think of right now.
But, there are other rewards programs that can convert to Qantas points. Eg Hotel reward programs such as Accor etc as well as others.

And for bank reward programs like say CBA awards - you don't have to set it up to earn Qantas points. You can convert your existing stash of CBA rewards points on demand to qantas points. That would net you the bonus too I think

        • No, no you can't. CBA Awards automatically sweeps when you opt into Qantas, and you cannot convert existing points into QFF. They're pretty clear about that. Same with nab, Westpac, ANZ, Citi and HSBC. Amex is the only one.

Also, hotel partner transfers don't count. They say it's only for credit or charge card rewards.

        • Only the Amex Plat Charge is the only card I know that this is useful for.

        • @Kyanar:
i know it doesnt mention hotel partner transfers
but I'm pretty sure with these "transfer bonuses" in the past, hotel partner transfers seem to trigger the bonus? Unless its changed.

          I stand corrected regarding CBA.
But still, Amex Plat charge isnt the only one. The other one which I forgot, but I just looked up - its Westpac Altitude Business platinum/gold - you do not have to sweep

        • @Overtime2000: Not only does it not mention hotel partner transfers, it explicitly says "credit or charge card rewards points". It doesn't need to explicitly mention that you won't get it from hotel transfers, because it clearly says the only thing that you will get it from. It also doesn't say you'll get a bonus from flights, wine, Qantas Assure Wellness Rewards, and Qantas Business Rewards transfers, because it doesn't need to.

And Altitude Business is a business card, which requires an ABN or ACN. Not everyone will have this, meaning the only meaningful option is Amex Platinum Charge, with a $1200 annual fee.

        • @Kyanar: juga
It's easier to get an ABN than it is to earn over 100k needed for the platinum charge card.

          Anyway it's besides the point.
Point is, there are other cards/programs. And as someone linked below, there may be grandfathered cards still that allow transfers. Although they are getting rarer and rarer. I stand corrected in that, yes there's not a lot of them. But it's not just the Amex charge

    Should work for Platinum Edge

    • not unless its linked to a Ascent Premium program (ie linked to the charge card)

  • Targeted?

  • Apparently it is targeted..

We are sending you this offer as you have transferred rewards points earned on a credit or charge card to Qantas Points in the past.

Generally most cards cannot transfer points adhoc. However, there are apparently still some around. More here

    • yep so as per that link you provided, it looks like there are other grandfathered cards also that can transfer into Qantas points "on demand", like Citi
