Anyone played The Division? I was wondering if it's worth it now to buy and play. I'm currently playing Destiny 2 and I just don't find the environment, enemies, story, gear, skill tree intereting at all. I know both of these games are fundamentally similar as they are FPSMMORPG. Is the division more interesting?
Destiny 2 Vs The Division

wouldnt that mean it's easier to get loot with less competition in the 'red zone'? im playing with friends so, coop is not much of an issue
The Division is 3rd person, not first.
oh right! might be even better
Destiny 2 reviews seem to indicate it's a rushed game from the start to end of its development.
I'd personally stay away, unless you're invested in it (ie/ emotional, friends, etc etc).
The Division is a very different game, and it has a small (but dedicated) player base.
I personally wouldn't vouch for it. Look for Halo, BF1, and Tom Clancy's Seige instead. There's also PUBG, which is quite popular.
I don't agree with PUBG, I'm not sure how I feel since it's the most popular game on steam but it's still in early access.. Which Halo is on PC? thx
I played The Division a lot and loved it. Pretty picky with my games too…
Played both, liked both, but The Division was very underwhelming in terms of support. End game was lacking, and the DLC didn't really remedy that.
They did make game changes patches, but it didn't fix the lack of content and the DLC was very simple and small scale.
I personally hated the mechanics of the red zone, going rogue would make your name visible through walls and visible on the map to all players. Seems counter productive to have a zone that offers high loot rewards you're meant to compete for, if actually going rogue is punishing to the point of being unviable. Just ends up being a wait in queue simulator.Haven't finished Destiny 2 yet, but that's because I've literally been doing everything it has i.e. every mission, side mission, all the marked caves, all high loot targets, every public event. But overall I find it's core formula more entertaining, and given the quality of Destiny 1's DLC I expect Destiny 2 to have better longevity.
thanks for the overview! I'm on Titan right now and I just don't look forward to playing this game like I do on other titles. Getting through the story is very painful for me
I like the Division out of the two but if I could pick any other game to play atm it would be rainbow six siege or player unknowns battle grounds with maybe overwatch a close second.
If you are on PlayStation or PC remember that Planetside 2 is free to play.
The Division was awful. The beauty and attention to deal breaks the sense of immersion when it takes 15 clips to a gas masked head for a foe to drop.
I know people have already put their opinions forth on this matter but allow me.
Destiny 2, I picked up the Limited Edition at launch and therefore have both Expansions to look forward to and cannot give a fair evaluation of it in comparison to a game (The Division) that has been out for a number of years and has had quite a few content additions. I have beat Destiny 2 with all 3 characters and have played other PvE and PvP events. I'm not saying Destiny 2 is terrible, I quite enjoy it actually, but I feel like it needs more incentive and drive to play. For example, I only play it now when mates are all on and even then we just run through the weekly tasks and hop off.
The Division on the other hand, this is a game that I enjoy quite a lot and advocate for it. It is by far a perfect game and I understand this but for what I look for in an online only game, it delivers. Switching from D2 to The Division you straight away feel the difference (4 Players for PvE, instead of Destiny's 3) and you have more freedom to play roles (D2 often requires players to play DPS, Tank and Healing, whereas Division you are free to tinker with classes). Story missions are repetitive yes, but this can be also said with Destiny 2 and their Public Events and whatnot. Not to mention after completing an "Incursion" on the highest difficulty with your crew and your friend gets a "Set Piece Item" for the 50th time and you haven't received it before you can DROP IT and give it to them FOR FREE. Another great way the game offers freedom and the ability to ensure your squad is balanced across the board.
Now, onto the famous "Dark Zone"
I think this area is what wins it over for me. The Division's Dark Zone adds that extra layer of insecurity and adrenaline pumping feeling of risk. Once you defeat a named enemy, open a Dark Zone chest or retrieve a Supply Cache then begins the task of extracting the gear without being killed or having your loot stolen. Teamwork is essential and understanding your strengths is also another key thing to have. Being able to change your roles, skills and gear on the fly is convenient and sometimes the difference between success and failure. The fact that they have expanded the Dark Zone recently is amazing as it adds more difficulty.
Tom Clancy's The Division will continue to add more content to both PvE and PvP and it'll all be FREE.
Hope this helped :)
that was great! thank you!
So I haven't played Destiny but I love the division. Dark zone I try and run solo but is hard, always end up picking up a few friends. With so many bits of equipment it's all a balancing act. Next update opens up a new area but not in the dark zone.
That's right! New update drops that new area near Hudson Yards and near the docks.. any idea on the date for that?
Fall US time so September on for us.
Even though 1.8 is currently in PTS for consoles? I don't think it'll be September 2018 dude..
I've got both and honestly I suggest neither. Although I'm currently grinding my way through the D2 raid that just released earlier today, it's nowhere as fun as Ghost Recon Wildlands which I suggest you get on sale.
I don't think I had as much fun in all of Destiny 2 than in that short, free Wildlands weekend.
We played through wildlands co op and finished it recently, it is a great game in short bursts, so many weapon choices. But it gets annoying after getting into tier one mode where you die in one hit. We are around 220 power level in D2 and just finished the story campaign, who ever wrote the script should be fired
The player pool in Division will be significantly smaller (almost non existent) compared to Destiny 2.
