The deal at the fixed price of $29.95 is still advertised on the website as being current which is a very good rate, may be useful for people who need to go through an online lodgement with Tax Agent advice rather than using the ATO Etax portal.

$30 and they have all your personal details to sell onto organised crime gangs. It's a bargain for them unfortunately
THe free ATO online software is called MyTax now; be careful as etax is another private company using the name to lure clients.
DIY….. Got the same amount back as Tax Agent was offering….

I've used them and highly recommend them to people who've earned below the threshold (typical of travelers, students, carers, semi-retired etc) but have to fill in the supplementary section for say a rental or uncomplicated business income, for example. Creating a depreciation schedule would take the average newb more than $29.95 in Excel time.
In my case it was old tax returns (yep, they did my 2010 tax returns for the same price by hand).
I was and am still suspicious how they can offer their time so cheaply but I assume the fixed price for rentals and business income is a loss leader while the target market would be backpackers and nervous people that just want to ask specific questions (the ATO documentation rarely covers every scenario in black-and-white).
And of course they would be useful for days like today where you just need to contact a tax agent before the deadline :)
