[WA] Pick Your Own Strawberries - ~3kg Tray for $7 (or 2 for $12) @ Kien Strawberry Farm, Gnangara

220

Hi…

First of all credit should go to Spackbace of this deal below for highlighting this deal last year.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263316

The season is back on, has been for a few weeks now. I just went on the weekend and the strawberries are so large, fresh, and sweet. This time the entire farm was open to public picking so you could just pick the best of the best.

The main reason I'm posting this is that the season will only last about 2 more weeks before the Perth heat damage the stock. I was shocked at how much was still there but the guy mentioned that most of it will go to waste because it may not be viable to hire pickers to pick and sell commercially.

It would be a great shame to such spectacular produce go to waste. Its $7 for a box or 2 for $12.

Check their facebook page for confirmation they will be open each weekend.

There are several other farms in that area doing roughly the same deal, some a bit more expensive but a bigger box. The link below has many farm's facebook pages for the opening days and prices.

Here was one of my boxes yesterday, the children also love getting involved in picking them (but they may get rotten ones when you are not looking).

These places are only 30 mins north of Perth.

  • Those strawberries look great!

  • Apart from the really nice produce, it's a huge help to those farmers who'll end up losing their crop otherwise. Any money they can earn from it will be better than the alternative.

  • +3

Was always such a treat having mum take us to Wanneroo/Gnangara strawberry farms, getting an icecream tub and picking our own, such a favourite memory. Never realised that it was the ultimate in cheap babysitting cos she'd sit in the car for an hour and read her book.

  • Rinse with 1:10 vinegar:water and they'll keep longer :)

  • Make jam from it too. Last a year that way.
