- purchased a second hand PC today and it was working perfectly.
- Took it apart to change the graphics card - no output with the new card (Radeon RX580)
Any ideas or tips?
My thoughts:
* could be dodgy power supply - the card that came with it is not externally powered. The new card is.
Does the 2nd hand PC have built in graphics? Assuming it's an Intel system it should. Try connecting the monitor to the built in HDMI outputs.
a very likely scenario
Age of the motherboard's BIOS has not much to do with GPU compatibility. What is more likely the PSU was on the verge of failling, and putting your power-hungry RX580 graphics card into the system probably caused the old PSU to kick the bucket.
