  • anyone has any good pullup bars to recommend to set up at home?

Got. Though I think my Pull-ups app is going to be as disappointed in my as my meditation and running apps.

    Only for pull up, uninstalled.

Sorry my title was so descriptive…

I don't think it should say 'PRO' as amateurs can use this too.

Just tried the app for the last hour…

Seems to be working fine so far.

    No bar at hand?

I always have bar at hand.

  • Would this work if I wanted to do chin ups?

    • +1

You can if you believe you can

  • Runtastic are decent apps, but I don't really like the way "Pro" users are constantly nagged to buy "Premium", plus you still get ads…

    • The only ads I've had from Runtastic apps are ads for other Runtastic apps. What ads are you referring to?

      • I just opened up the main Runtastic app (for riding/cycling), and it immediately showed a full-screen ad for Adidas shoes… (I screenshotted it but can't figure out how to upload!)

They come each time you start/end an activity or even lock/unlock the phone…it's only started sometime in the last few months, I think the ads are new. They also started altering the audio miles/time notifications to nag-ads, killing the main feature that was better than Strava: so I've switched back to Strava :)

          Hmmm… interesting. Maybe it's cos I use Weblock I don't get them

I have the PRO version for sit-ups from a recent post on OzB (shows no ads at all), but I have the free version app for Push-ups which shows me the Adidas ad before and after each session.
So maybe somehow your copy has 'forgotten' its the PRO version?

        • @bodysurfer:

maybe somehow your copy has 'forgotten' its the PRO version?

Yes, that seems the case, annoying! I didn't change phone or reinstall, it's just spontaneous.

From a quick google I've no idea how to get it back! I'll go see if I can find a help contact, but I'm not holding my breath :)

        • @bodysurfer:

Update! TLDR: I contacted Runtastic, and they basically called me a liar and said they wouldn't help me!

Seems a cashgrab: they just strip Pro status away for no reason, and won't help unless you pay. When in reality they are sending me back onto the forums to tell this story every time they are mentioned, and recommend Strava instead… so weird to have such bad service to make $5!

          Me:

My Running Pro app has spontaneously become a Free version, started showing ads… I didn't change anything! What's going on? How do I get my Pro back?

          Them:

As I can see you always used the free version of the app. (either just not true or an annoying semantic: I obviously mean free vs Pro app, whereas are they saying Pro via code vs Pro via cash?)
If you purchased the PRO version before you can easily restore it, to do so please follow the instructions provided following the link.

          Me:

That doesn't sound right, I used a Pro code I found here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/286460 (you can see me commenting in the thread, and the dates line up with when I installed Runtastic.)
I don't know why it changed back to free.
These codes are listed fairly often. Can you just reinstate me as Pro?
Otherwise it's just not worth the hassle/uncertainty, I'll switch back to Strava! But I do like Runtastic, hopefully you can just fix it :)

          Them:

In this case, unfortunately we cannot assist you . (no reason, just won't help)
We are more than happy to provide help to users, who have purchased the app in the past, to regain access to the PRO features again.
There is no free solution for users, who received the PRO features through the appoftheday promotion in this case. (ie "we don't honor our own codes"
However, I'm quite sure you'll see more offers like this in the future and get the chance to purchase the appoftheday once more.
          Thank you for your understanding.

No, I don't understand! If they intend codes to be temporary they should say so. Imho Runtastic are lying moneygrubbers, and it's easy to find better alternatives: Strava, Runkeeper, Nike+, MapmyRun, etc etc…

          Anyway, /rant :)
          Cheers!

  • Thanks OP - added this app to my collection. Now I get to do sit-ups, push-ups and pull-ups on a regular basis haha.

I've found the apps are useful, but the progression after the first few days is pretty steep. I mean day 1 you are doing about 2 reps, and about 10 days later you're up around 60-70 (sit-ups, that is). But you can stay on a certain level for longer if needed, so overall it works well.

Would be good if they just made it a single app!

Oh and a tip: you can always try the free version, it lets you do the first 'round' - about 10 days worth for free. Thats what I'm doing with the push ups one, works fine (but shows a couple of ads each session that you have to click to make go away). I really need to get some Adidas shoes sometime…

  • Not free on IOS anymore?

  • Not free on Google Play that I can see.
