Cash Converters Webshop Selling Fake Phones

Hey guys, I frequently use the Cash Cconverters web shop as you can find some really good prices sometimes….. I was looking at Samsung phones recently and noticed this having dealt with many phones over the years straight away I can see this is a replica or clone 100% fake, there is even a YouTube review of the exact clone

I contacted the store and only response has been "how can you tell…?".. and nothing since and the listing remains.

It's got me questioning the ethics of cash converters, what are your thoughts?

I knew someone would post this… so, first look at the box. "4g full netcom" and specs are listed, there is no samsung box in history that is printed like that. secondly, the a7 does not have anything printed on the bottom back area, thirdly the notification sensor is on the far left, incorrect placement.. the back and forward touch buttons are too far apart, the specs lists back camera 8mp, front 2mp, there is no legit a7 with these specs, there is also no galaxy a7 with 128gb internal storage.

Contact Samsung Australia & let them know. After that email the media such as Choice, newscorp, fairfax etc. Cash converters has been ripping people off for too long

Ouch. The price started at $199 as well, which is more than what you'd pay for one of these clones new on-line.

There is a chance that a sucker got tricked, sold it to a sucker at Cash Converters and now another sucker has carried on tradition.

Now that brands such as Sony and Motorola are competing in this price range it's hard to justify the price of some imported phones, let alone re-distributed clones. On another note, I don't know why Xiaomi is mostly focused on developing countries for now but maybe OzBargain isn't representative of Australia. It seems an OzBargainer making $40,000 a year is more likely to buy Xiaomi than a SE Asian making $2000 a year.

    • because xiaomi will get sued in Australia, USA etc.

Do you have to give ID when selling items to Cash Converters? You could sell several to every store. If you were willing to drive around i imagine you could make a bit of money of this. Obviously immoral and illegal.

  • I had fake s6 as well. By the box you can tell right away. The printing cutting are bad.

You lost me at "the ethics of cash converters" - they have none.

    • I kind of tend to agree. I don't want to call out every single employee or operator of a cash converters as being dodgy but suffice to say I've heard many stories about stolen goods ending up in a cash converters.
