Anyone here with knowledge in NVR system configuration? Please help
I have an 8ch Swann NVR with 1TB storage.
I have only hooked up 7 cams and they are on 1080p.
It only saves recording of a few days and not weeks.
Have I missed anything?
I do plan on getting a 4TB HDD but I’d want to know where I’m going wrong.
I’m happy to provide more details if needed.

It is set to motion detection but it’s recording everything 24x7.
Is there an option in motion detection where you can select certain parts of the video? Then deselect trees, etc. So that the wind/moving trees doesn't set off the motion detection all the time.

The nvr is recording 24/7 because it's detecting movement/differences in the frames. You need to identify the movements and exclude those zones.
Sounds about right to me. Lots of times they quote longer recording is on motion detection and/or not at the max resolution.
Personally I would leave the recording at 1080p but set it to motion detection.
