$65/mnth, 8/48
I'm with the Naked ADSL
$50, No line rental, 8/48, Free VOIP
I'm waiting for Internode Ultra naked DSL, which is currently in trial but should be released this month.
The Exetel plan has generous off-peak quota, but P2P caching may be a concern.
The P2P cache works well or rather it doesn't negatively affect my downloads. Private/Public trackers work full speed. Biggest downside for my Exetel connection is the speed around midnight. Drops from 4Mb/s (my max speed) to 1.5Mb/s. Still worth it for the price.
I have been with Exetel for a couple of years and love them. If you need a referral to them please let me know.
Jon.
You don't get a referral for ADSL2 signups, only ADSL1.
This offer doesn't apply to Wireless Broadband, ADSL2 or Churn ADSL1 services; only to new ADSL1 services.
I am with Exetel as well (ADSL2+ via Optus bundled with phone) as static IP is a must for me. I agree with Neil about the off peak speed — YouTube is almost unwatchable when the clock tips over 12am :(
That's what I really dislike about peak/off-peak plans, especially when the drop in speed is such that you couldn't use all of your off-peak quota. It is very much a two-tier service with most ISPs.
I am thinking of switching to Exetel ADSL2+ too from Optus Cable, but I don't really know anything about debugging problems that comes with ADSL.
Do I need know a lot to be able to get and keep the connection working? I read on whirlpool that Exetel support can't really be counted upon. Is there a cooling off period after signing the contract?
Don't get me wrong, I love Whirlpool but it's a small minority of people who are quite loud on the Exetel WP forum.
Whirlpool just released its 2007 survey, worth a read.

There's nothing you need to do to "keep the connection working". Exetel support is made for experienced users, not your mom and pops who don't know where to plug things in. Going from Cable to ADSL2, you are likely to lose a lot in speed.
Thanks for that. Speed won't be an issue for me. Just over 1 km away from exchange and I am on pretty old equipment at the moment.
So, would you say generally Exetel's only for people who have used ADSL before? My other alternatives are TPG or iiNet.
Not really ADSL, more like anyone who can figure out how to use forums, wikis, and navigate to the router. Basically people who don't need their hand held and can read their instruction manual.
The fact that you are posting on here and have said that you are 1km from the exchange, suggests that you should have no trouble setting it up. If ya do..just post on here or Whirlpool and someone will help ya. Just make sure you have set up your dsl before you cancel your Optus Cable.
Thanks for the replies, neil. I think I will try them out then, saves me $15 a month at least. ^^
