Xiaomi Mijia Shoes Pairing Issue

Sorry if this is the wrong thread

but i bought a pair of mijia shoes with the smart chip thingy

but i cannot get my phone to detect it and pair it.

Anyone have any trouble shooting ideas?

    And with Mijia they're trying to be less dependent on their partners. Like releasing a Mijia action camera instead of pushing the Yi 4K from Yi Technology who they once invested in.
    
    Most OzBargainers don't even realise Xiaomi and Yeelight are separate companies for example.
