I have noticed that DEFT has an online portal to pay rent with which accepts credit card payment. I usually pay DEFT via BPAY, but westpac does not count BPAY towards minimum spend. So I am wondering would paying through the online portal be counted as Credit card payment, or do they have a special payment category recognising DEFT payments and it doesn't count?
anyone with experience in this area?
Want to know as well. I think should be fine because when you bpay you initiate payment out but by using third party portal, they basically debit your card. (same as buying fridge online at www.goodguys)
Fyi:I called ask the same thing to NAB, staff told me "we had meeting last week to discuss this and yes fine you can bpay and it will count for minimum spend (to get bonus point promo)." it's local staff not outsourced ones.

Yeah looks like they debit the card directly in the online portal. BPAY is a no-no for westpac.

I've made transactions with DEFT in order to get the min spend needed on a credit card. Worked fine.
What is the credit card surcharge to make these payments?
I think 1.3% for mastercard
currently 1.5% Visa & MasterCard and 3.3% Amex
