      • +16

        I think you mean Schapelle.
Have you been in a coma? She is free now, back in Straya.

        • +7

Oh yeah, I did think Michelle didn't sound bogan enough.

The return flights all end 26th of September, 4 days after my wedding! That's not enough time for a honeymoon :'(

    • Honeymoon before the wedding? Why not.

    • +9

      Move the wedding ๐Ÿ˜œ

    • -3

Book a first or business class with Qantas for your honeymoon trip!

  • Whats the best ways to compare flight? I was going through Jetstar and randomly selecting times but it seems to be a bit tedious comparing that way

Scored Bali return from Brisbane for $280 incl luggage. Not complaining…

  • Great deals. BUmmer no Japan on that list

    • +1

      I can see OOL/NRT @$319 RT.
And luckily you can fly in the typhoon season.

    • Great price for Adelaide to Narita return.
      $440!
Only problem is outbound leg needs to be in March with return leg in the middle of May! (Mar 13, May 17 = $439.65)
Too long a trip for me, but you never know, might suit someone.
Maybe track the entire cherry blossom season?

Always good to have Jetstar gift cards on standby for days like this.

Can't find anything for Sydney-Adelaide last week of April but did find Sydney-Melbourne mid-August!

But do I want to pay $89 plus $38 for checked luggage on Jetstar or use my Velocity points for my Melbourne flight ๐Ÿค”

    • Why pay real money when you can pay fake money (points)? You can also change/cancel flights bought on points and use lounge if you have/will have status with Virgin

      • Because I was gonna burn my points on the Adelaide flight first haha. No status for me as I don't fly that much (most of my points come from parking, fuel and shopping online ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Last time this offer occurred, I flew Jetstar to Melbourne and saved my Velocity points since I didn't need checked luggage.

MEL > AKL $179 return. I swore I'd never do that midnight flight again but at that price…

    • hahahaaha the dilemma of whether to pay more for comfort or pay dirt cheap prices but suffer for it lol!

    • I like that flight! Always quiet :)

  • +2

Why did I even bother looking for a flight to New Zealand during the Winter school Holidays. Of course those dates are excluded.

  • +1

How does it work? My booking for 5 peoples come no discount on return fare ?

  • Thanks OP, bought SYD to CHC in Feb for $711 return for 4 including checked baggage for 1.

Also, realized it was cheaper to become a club Jetstar member for $49 so saved $160-$49 =$121 for return for 4. Kia Ora!

    • I'm confused, how do you end up getting a further $49 discount when you needed to pay for a Club Jetstar membership?

      • +2

$160 saving over 4 people for club member minus $49 membership = $121 better off by buying the membership

    • Which dates did u use
I cant get abything that cheaper

      • 10 Feb-16 Feb

  • I made a booking a few weeks back, is there any way to change this (keeping the same flight/dates) to get the cheaper price? Thanks.

  • Great prices, and tempted to travel to places that I have never been to. EG Ayers Rock. But the Ayer Fare is not the problem. Hotels $500 plus per night. It looks like I will stick to Asia!

    • A dorm bed at Ayers Rock Resort is $38. You will get a $25 hotel voucher after you book your flight. Brings your dorm bed down to $13.

    • Camping?

      • +2

Thanks, but I am not the dorm or Camp type.

Go to Alice Springs, then take a bus for a day trip to Uluru. Much greater choice of accommodation in Alice Springs, and more to see.

It's decades since I went, but I roughly recall the itinerary was:

      • Leave Alice Springs at 7am
      • Arrive Uluru at lunchtime
      • spend an hour or so at Uluru
      • spend an hour at Kata Tjuta (nearby rock formation, just as interesting as Uluru)
      • Leave about 3pm, arriving Alice Springs about 9pm.

You could drive, but I don't recommend that unless you can share the driving, it's 463km according to Google. You'll see Mt Connor (a mesa/tabletop mountain) on the way, and go close to Rainbow Valley and the Henbury meteorite craters. The bus tour didn't stop at these locations, they aren't huge tourist attractions.

When you get to Alice Springs, you might want to drop into a tourist shop and buy a beekeeper's net to go over your head and hat. The flies can be atrocious sometimes. The locals learn "the flick", a hand movement to shoo the flies away, but it takes a few weeks to pick up the skill. Flies in Central Australia are stubborn, for them it's a life-or-death situation trying to get some moisture from your face. I lived there for two years. The tourist stores also used to sell hats with hanging corks, they're useless, don't buy them.

      • +1

Way too much driving, FA time at Uluru/Kata Tjuta.

Fly to Uluru direct, spend the lousy $38.00/night on a refrigerated dorm bed (depending on timing you might get the whole thing to yourself anyway), and spend at least 3 days there using a 3-day bus pass to visit Uluru (walk around it) and Kata Tjuta (do one of the 3+ hour walks if you can). You can chill out at Uluru at the water hole watching the zebra finches coming in for a drink. Watch the sunrise and sunset. They have some great talks around Yulara - black fellas telling you about how they hunt - fully brutal compelling stuff. My knowledge is this year.

      • Go via Larapinta Drive aka Red Centre Way aka Mereenie Loop Road. Thank me later :)

  • Iโ€™m not sure why but i tried Avalon to Hobart and it wasnโ€™t free for return. It cost the same there as the return flight. Did I do something wrong? I looked at February 2018 dates.

    • +1

As stated in the OP, travel dates vary for this sale. Avalon to Hobart return dates here.

      • Thank you

  • Just a little tip.
I've already got accommodation booked for Cairns, 20th to 27th April so thought I'd miss out on this but if I change return date to 1st May, return is free (bearing in mid obviously 4 extra nights stay to cover).

I also found some return flights at the end of April, flying into Newcastle for $69.

    • +2

      What's the tip?

      • +1

I thought I was clear? The offer is from 1st May, but you can leave at the end of April but still get return free by returning on or after 1st May.

        • Ah, got it. I didn't catch it the first time either.

So, only the return flight has to be within the offer period.

        • @gilbarc: Yes, appears so. I don't know if that's been the case with all these promotions but I always thought both ways had to be within the offer period.

Anyway, it did work as I booked up.

      • I didnโ€™t catch the tip either! Haha

Return flights for two adults and a kid Melb tulla to Cairns in June, $189 return each. Great deal, even better with a week of car hire for only about $170 on top (no idea why it was so cheap on the Jetstar website but there you go). Even with $20 odd each way for one checked bag and the same for seat selection it barely cracked $800 all up.

Thanks OP, looking forward to fleeing the Melbourne winter next year!

Lunch break, glanced at ozbargain, now taking family to Bali for 2 weeks. Once again ozbargain has shown me to be a compulsive, mindless bargain slave.

    • a holiday to qld would have costed you more.

  • No Free return to where I want to go

    • +11

      Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks OP! Just snagged Bali for $1358 - two adults and three kids - June school holiday!!! A word of warning though - had other dates in my basket and when I selected to pay the flights were unavailable - I called Jetstar and they said they are not in your basket as such and not yours until you actually pay ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

    • they dont tell you that you conditionally lock it in for 5 minutes after selecting which eventually expires and throws a server error later on which releases it for anyone else..

    • what date did you choose? I am in Vic the school holidays are 30-june to 15th july.

  • Thanks TA, great prices to Cairns. Booked :)

  • website has been hammered. keep getting this message:
    Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://booking.jetstar.com/au/en/booking/select-flights" on this server.

  • FYI you get charged $30 both ways for an infant still.
Because the charge is a "fee", not a ticket.

    "Fees" apply in both directions
    :/

Tiger has deals going as well for around the same period.

Not sure if it's worth a separate post…

  • Grabbed Mel-Bali return for $209 in Feb - just hope that pesky volcano doesn't blow up around then!

    • What dates did you choose?

    • +1

TID just removed their insurance embargo on the volcano activity today at 3pm

  • jetstar's offer is better, tiger's you have to pay return fares.

  • Can't even access the Jetstar site. Been trying the last 30 mins. So annoying.

  • I'm amazed that people have been able to book, I've tried several times throughout the day and still haven't been able to get into the flight list.

This is all I'm destined to see https://booking.jetstar.com/sorry

  • Japan & Hobart sorted! Thanks TA!

  • Awesome TA $139 return to Cairns from Melbourne & $159 to Uluru from Melbourne. Perfect timing for our French guests arriving in April

  • Awesome, booked return flights to Japan for $500!

  • I can't find any return legs for free for anything? Do they actually show up for free or what?

  • Managed to score a flight to thailand but was keen for a Japan flight.

  • PSA: anyone who bought flights to bali.. TID just lifted their embargo on the volcano and all policies taken out from today onwards will cover cancelation/delays from any volcano activity
