    What!? Again? - edit, oh, this was from 2016 investigation. So this makes it the second time they got fined.

        hah. I've always compared MSY to a Chinese take-away shop. Their Parts.PDF even resembles a restaurant menu,

        some of their shop fit-outs look so dinghy and outdated (worn out carpet, broken door handles, promotional posters so old their colour has faded from constant exposure to fluorescent tube light)

        and the purchasing experience is pretty much like ordering food from at the food court.. You will want to know what you're looking for before you go in (since there's no salesperson to talk to) or you risk pissing off the people lining up behind you

        But despite all that we keep coming back for more cheap stuff :)

          haha, It's not the greatest experience but they get the job done. Though they could've spent that $750k on a new website.

          Second time they have been done. First time was in 2011 and this was last years. They just got fined :)

        • I think they were trying to employ two devs to refresh the website. Earlier this year they put out a job ad for a Magento developer and a full stack developer.

          They are the Soup Nazi of computer parts. Taking my son there for the first time to buy a gaming headset and explaining the purchasing ritual to him was a proud father-son bonding moment.

    Msy needs our support more than ever. Their 28 branches puts pressure on their competitors to keep the prices low.

  • It should be easier than ever now to make them do refunds or returns, just pull out the 'I am going to the ACCC' card…

      Well yea, as long as it's legitimate otherwise that's kinda slack.

    They get fined despite what their training guide tells staff on how to handle warranty. It just goes to show how much they really follow the rules.

  • They are a lot bigger than last time they got fined. Probably get better customer service in the next few months.

  • I still love their crazy hot ways. keep on truckin' msy…not all of us are after a starbucks/Harvey norman retail experience.

      • I didn't say it was my 'gold standard'. I do appreciate the experience … and don't want the retail world/ experience to be entirely the same …a generic, sterile and unauthentic experience created by populist expectation and consumer surveys. I dig the staff don't do the hard sell, smile or try to please you. On occasion ive asked for details and advice and it's been informative and on the money. I've seen customers there say and act in an extremely condescending way to staff… probably because "their carpet is old" or "door handle is broken" or some other excuse that' doesn't fit their vision of lifestyle choice

    If one has been to one of Hong Kong food stores, then should expect the same experience. they are using turnover rate per table to measure the business.
