Thanks OP. time to put my 15% off eshop cards to good use.

    • where did you get the 15% off eshop cards?

      • +2

EB Games has a sale at least once a year on the cards.

      • +1

EB Games. I think the sale ended 2-3 weeks ago.

  • +2

Pretty Crazy price for Binding of Isaac on Switch O_o

    • +2

Not that great. I got mine for $45 AUD physical copy shipped from Amazon.
I prefer physical for console and digital prices are just stupidly priced

      • Yeh meant its pretty expensive. All other formats so much cheaper

        • +1

Ahh cool. I look forward to the day when there are steam like sales on these platforms.

        • Not that crazy.
          Its $46aud on Steam.

        • @ScruffTheJanitor:
Steams not on sale. This is. Also did u see other post? $30 on base for switch. I didnt neg u btw

No love for Wii U :-(

  • +1

    Is snake pass any good?

    • +1

Controls take a while to get used to, but I enjoyed it.

    • I had fun with it. Good looking game too boot

    • Very innovative platformer. Takes a bit of time to get used to the controls but once you get the hang of it, it works wonderfully. It's like learning how to do a skateboard trick. Once you get the hang of it, the technique all makes sense. That said, I found that it got a bit repetitive and so I still have to get around to finishing it. The music is great though (Grant Kirkhope) and it definitely has nostalgic 90's platformer vibes to it.

  • +2

Snakepass and Shovel Knight would be the best value pick for the Switch out of that list.

    • Thimbleweed park is a good game; not sure what the normal price is on it, but worth playing.

  • +1

If I'd have waited a good few months for the 5 or so games on here I already bought on Switch, I could have saved almost 10 bucks. Damn, why didn't I think ahead, I could have almost bought one single NEO GEO game with those savings.

I'm kidding, the more sales the better. Of these games I can personally recommend

Rudymical, is actually not that bad. If Rock Band had a baby with Tekken you'd end up with something like this.
Don't Knock Twice, decent enough generic 1st person horror. Better ones out on PS4/XB1, nothing better on Switch yet.
Lichtspeer, overpriced but a fun, challenging spear throwing thing. Kinda like OG flash games like Bow Man. Quite fun.
Shovel Knight, has had enough said about it. All I have to add is that it feels very at home on Switch.
Snake Pass, is relaxing little time killer where you guide a snake through a series of increasingly difficult mazes.
Vaccine, if you like old school Resi Evil style stuff, but it's a race against a half hour clock.

If any of that interests you, I'd say they're all worth at least a Googling. I'm just trying not to spend an hour talking about them all. If you only got one game, Shovel Knight is the obvious one.

"If Rock Band had a baby with Tekken you'd end up with something like this."…wow. Struggling to comprehend this statement :-P

      • I know. It's odd. But I wanted to make a one sentence review for them.

You stand still the whole time, while enemy/ies fire shit at you. You have up, down, left, right, and jump options. They shoot kinda ball things, that are color coded ala Guitar Hero, at you and you respond in kind. I forgot the order, but for example's sake, let's say left is red, up is blue, right is green, and then you jump when they slam something on the ground at you.

It's got the speed and style of a fighting game, but the music and rhythm of a music game. It's nothing amazing, but for the right price it can be real fun when you're bored.

        • That 1 line review has me interested in trying it out but can't see it listed in specials above.

        • +1

@d1s34s3d:Full name is Dark Witch Music Episode Rudymical or something.

Don't get too hyped on it or anything, but it is pretty good if you like rhythm games and fast action style things. The soundtrack is nothing stellar, but playing on hard mode (you unlock the hardest mode after beating all the songs) provides a good challenge if you're after that.

YouTube some gameplay before buying it mind you, but yeah, it's pretty fun for me at least.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem: sweet. Thank you. I was looking for the first name rudymical. I've got a lot of credit still laying around from last couple of discounted eshop card deals, will be good to use some of it.

        • @d1s34s3d: I'm bummed about that. I had Knack 2 ordered in early September but returned it when it became apparent the free version on PSN wouldn't be revoked, the eShop EB sale was on then. I told the missus to return it and get 50 odd bucks or something with the Knack money, which would have been 40 and change, but she got the god damn thing returned on my bank card.

Now, being the spiteful bitch I am, I endeavor to only buy physical Switch games until the next eShop discount deal is on and I can redeem myself.

  • Don't have my Switch on hand to check, but it looks like this is across all eShop regions. If you bought credits to buy a discounted game in another region like I did (Canada iirc), you might be able to use it on these.

  • There's more than one shovel knight?

      Dlc

      • Ah…I wondered why I hadn't heard of it. thanks

Following the release of two additional campaigns, with a third currently in development, the original story received the retronym Shovel of Hope, and the full game is referred to as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.

      Campaigns:
      * Shovel of Hope
      * Plague of Shadows
      * Specter of Torment
      * King of Cards

Thimbleweed Park… Anyone got any opinions on this game? Thimbleweed Park!

    • +1

I've currently put over 10 hours into this game and still going… if you enjoyed point and click games back in the early 90's like leisure suit larry and monkey island you'll love thimbleweed park.. very underrated game in my opinion.

  • Do I buy a third copy of Shovel Knight and actually try and finish it? lol

Switch is my go to for indie games, but I've already bought it on PC (kickstarter) and Wii U, haha

    • +1

Same situation (almost) I bought it on PS4/Vita and then bought the retail copy on Vita when it got a limited repeat for my collection.

  • When does this end? I just bought GoNNer earlier today :)

I'm wanting snake pass, and possibly severed & shovelknight (though I have it on 3ds).
Absolutely love binding of isaac but won't pay more than $20AUD for it.. I spent so many hours on the 3ds with that game. But $60.. don't think so!

Need to put some money on my account first.. and hoping this sale won't end too quickly.

    • how could I forget Axiom Verge! I have it on the Wii U and still haven't played it.

    • Should end November 2.

      • thanks !
Plenty of time to check reviews & funds

These are the WiiU prices, there are more but not all were Halloween themed. Bayonetta 2 should also be on the list but I cannot see its sale price because I have previously purchased it and it comes up with the Bayonetta bundle price.

    • Thank you. Added this info

    • Thanks. Merged into current table

  • I did not expect so many games would get discounts.

  • Are any of these switch titles exclusive to the platform?

    • +1

      Dark White Music Episode: Rudymical
      Astro Bears Party

  • -1

Bring on the exclusives like Mario Odyssey.

I'm not interested in paying inflated prices for games I already have better, cheaper versions of on other platforms.

  • $26 for Shovel Knight on the switch isn't bad considering its $25.95 on Steam at the current exchange rate. What platform though :S

    • Or get physical version on PS4/Xbone for 20 odd at JB.

  • Shame star dew valley isn’t in there, it has Halloween themes in the fall season.
