If the game doesn't start on your Windows 10 machine and you get Error 0xc0000022:
Go to Control Panel, then find Turn Windows features on or off. Under
Legacy Components make sure DirectPlay is ticked and then hit OK. PC might need to restart.

I remember playing Stronghold like a decade ago.. Fun game, I enjoyed it more than any of the AOE games
UGH. I'm never going to play either of these adds them to large untouched GOG library anyway.
I lost my original Stronghold disc (still got the case) so much disappoint I couldn't play it no more. Now I can, legally :D

Probably a stupid question since nobody else has asked: but does this have any active multiplayer or does anybody know or play this on any legacy network enabling software such as voobly, tunngle, gameranger, evolve, netovernet, dynvpn, hamachi, garena, neorouter, p2pvpn, radmin vpn, tinc vpn, wireguard, grappl?
Curious to know if there is any sort of playerbase or community of some sort for these games.
If we can get it into Steam possibly can play multiplayer.

Thanks, I have very fond memories of playing Stronghold back in the day. Big fan of economic missions that don't require building some massive army. And watching people wandering around dying of plague :)
