28 Degrees CC Having Issues with Spotify Automatic Payments

Hi everybody,

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with using their 28 Degrees card to pay for monthly payments for Spotify? (or any other monthly/recurring payments for that matter?) The card doesn't get accepted with either regular credit card secure input, or through paypal's credit card payment facilities.

The 28 Degrees card works fine with and without paypal for all other Australian and International payments.

I have no issues with using my Bank issued credit card (came free with home loan) but I get charged an international fee of 50cents each time.

None of Spotify, Paypal or 28 Degrees customer support know why this is happening as each of them say there are no restrictions on the card or the account.

  • Mine used to work fine maybe 8 months ago before I changed it to a different card.

Sometimes things are just whack and easier to move on than try and debug. How many hrs have you spent to save $6/yr already? Just use another card and mark that ticket as solved :)

    • You have a fair point. I was hoping it was something that was an easy fix!

As a principle I don't like paying more than I should, but I agree, something like this isn't really worth the time and effort to pursue.

      • The problem is it should work. No reason for it not to work. But it isn't working. So where do you even start to solve? Not so simple :)

Seems weird to have a 50 cent fee given it charges in AUD? Irregardless of where the merchant is.

        • Bank of melbourne/westpac (and probably other banks) charge you international fees of 3% if currency not AUD, or if the payment is made to a overseas company (even if AUD). Pretty dodgy.

  • I've been using my 28 degrees for spotify for the last 6 months and its working fine

  • request for a new card.
