Battery Charger for 1/3 AAA Batteries

Does anyone know of a battery charger that can charge 1/3 AAA batteries?

The wife has some solar garden things that the batteries have gone flat on during winter. Despite getting more sun now they have depleted to a degree that they need a proper charge to bring them back to life.

I haven't been able to find anything that will allow me to do so.

Does such a charge exist or is there some kind of adaptor that allows them to be charged in a normal charger?

Cheers

5c coins should do the trick. Wrap the bundle of coins with a bit of copper wire if you want.

Make sure the charger is suitable for your battery chemistry, and probably use a low current mode if possible.

Note that your batteries might be irreversibly dead, and if so there is a chance of fire (depending on chemistry).

  • Yep… I have one. It is an Arlec Combo Battery Charger - charges up to 4 batteries at once. It is the size of my iPhone (although chunkier). It charges Aaa, Aa & 9V NiCd and NiMH batteries. When charging solar batteries make sure you switch to the appropriate type of battery when charging as this charger charges two different battery types. IMO the solar batteries never last long, even when recharged. Unfortunately all those cute solar lights end up in landfill very quickly *sigh You could try at Bunnings …???

  • Thanks for the replies. I have a smart charger already that I can set the charge rate to either 200,500 or 700mah but I wasn't sure how I could do these much smaller batteries.

I will give the 5c pieces a go and if that doesn't work then at least I know there is a charger I could buy.

More expensive option but the wife likes the sodding things so they are here to stay.

    • you can buy packs of new solar batteries of course…but they are not always a cheap option :/
