Differences Between The Two Kogan 55" 4k LED TV's (Flat Normal and Agora Smart TV)

Both these tv's have been going on special a lot recently most noticeably the Agora for $499 was wondering if there were any differences besides the obvious smart functionality between the TV's.

Also the Agora seems to have 120hz and while the normal flat does not which would be a great differentiator for me if all other specs are fairly equal most importantly for me input lag and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling.

If anybody knows of any major flaws between the two please let me know.

I already know they both don't have any HDR which is not a deal breaker for me so that's good.

  • One is a Samsung panel and one is an LG panel, definitely different.

It's impossible to say how they will perform based on specs alone, the image processor makes up a huge component of the image quality. You can get TVs which on paper should be incredible but which suck due to the image processor.

    • Are image processors different within the same models? Or do certain panels or tv's have better image processors and if so which one (between these two or other budget sub $1100 4k 55" or there about tv's)

I am not 100% knowledgeable or up to speed yet with tv technologies and hardware specs but I am trying to.

  • i think 4k and ultra/super HD are just upscaled by the tv's processors… it's HDR or bust. there was a 55inch sony with HDR on sale at H.N. a few weeks back for just over 1000 bucks.

    • True true. I was looking at my options for hdr and they all seemed expensive for the amount/cost as I wanted to maybe get one as a present for my old roommate and maybe grandparents.

But after reading some more horror stories on some cheap Kogan's on whirlpool I am thinking now again to avoid them and maybe aim for above $1000. It's just the $499 free shipping 50"+ 4k with smart tv is very tempting.. and even if it doesn't perform 100% but is still usable I will still take that maybe for a small usage guest room or something but nothing too intensive like movie watching or gaming maybe just free to air and etc.
