Not entirely sure what this does but I just saved myself $2.29. Cheers op

Basically you don't need to go through all the Spotify menus to find your playlists! You can just select which playlist/artist/album etc you listen to the most and make a shortcut for it, or create a widget that shows multiple playlists/artists/albums that you like :)

Then from the shortcut/widget, clicking on the playlist/artist/album will start playing it and you don't need to keep going through the menus, which is super helpful to those who always listen to the same playlists etc.

Plus it's very easy to set up (no need to sign in to Spotify) and there's a tutorial on the app that shows how to do it.

Awesome reply. Thanks. Just wish app description matched your reply.

          Haha cheers!

      • Do I need the premium Spotify to use this?

        • Nope, what's actually happening is you're sharing a public playlist to the app so it makes a shortcut. Just imagine making a shortcut to a website on your computer. It's the same thing but on Android for Spotify links (and opens directly on the app).

I was going to install it but it has only 1000 downloads!!! Could be a virus

      • +1

Sorry but what? How'd you come to that conclusion? Paranoia much.

        • I never download anything that has a low download count. At 1000 downloads it could easily be an app written to hack your phone or a fake clone of an existing app.

      • It has low downloads because it's normally paid

        • -1

It should keep the same counters. It's the same app with reduced price.

        • @MikeKulls: why the negative vote? Makes absolutely no sense at all.

Works great. Didn't have to sign in to anything and adding playlist shortcuts to homescreen was simple.

App showing as 1000 downloads. Will reach 1M now that it's on ozbargain saving $2.29

  • Looks great for people who use playlists etc. within Spotify. Unfortunately I mostly listen to the Spotify curated "Daily Mix" or just my "Songs" section on shuffle which aren't shareable content so not usable within the app.

Oh man you're stuck in second gear if you aren't using playlists. What about your Discover Weekly?

      • That gets a run through when it refreshes, I tend to save the songs I like then rely on the Daily to keep new stuff coming in. Seems to work.

  • Is this useful for those who are using free spotify? If this only works for those who have spotify subscription, it should be added in the description to avoid confusion.

    • You're just "sharing" content to the app via the "share" function (like you would sharing to social media), so no you don't need to sign in to an account at all, let alone have a subscription.

Haha I don't even have spotify on my phone, but if this app used to cost $2.29 then it must be very useful, just downloaded and dunno what to do with it, thanks for letting me know, finally able to get something free from here, always missed out on other freebies like zapal …

  • Could this be used to create better looking shortcuts for any url ?

    • I just tried using Ozbargain and it says "invalid link". So I guess it won't work for anything but Spotify links as the Spotify app won't be able to open it.

I didn't know I needed this and I'm already questioning how I got by without it. Thanks OP.

    • I still do not know how this works

      • It's a widget. The app is for configuring the playlists/shortcuts and theme you want. Just add the widget to your homescreen or however you have widgets setup.

  • Great find OP, thank you

Good app, but a few quirks noticed. When creating a homescreen shortcut on my kids android phones, the album art didn't survive a reboot - it's been replaced with a stock, green android robot icon. Also, one song I tried to add has a regular looking cover, but when creating the link in Sign it turns into a large cover, and I can't see the text of the song, let alone press the tick (done) button, therefore can't add the song.

Can anyone try this song and see if it works for them? https://open.spotify.com/track/5m4XJ50qcGUHK5CVnZ6Ru4

Edit: Happening with the majority of songs on this phone. I have emailed the app author.

It could be because of the low res on the kids phones (480 x 854,), but there's no way to scroll in Sign when adding a song, thus I can't add it.

    • The link opens up Spotify with :
Hope Remains by Shaun Taylor McManus

    • Edit: It ended up being that I had an older version. The latest version is 2.2.16 and the tick is up the top, no problems in adding songs. The homescreen icons disappearing after a reboot is caused by the third party launcher (Nova) and unfortunately cannot be resolved, according to the author. Nonetheless, a very handy app.

  • Nice

  • Looks expired. Now back at $2.29
