I wanted the small sized one but the large bezels and low resolution really turned me off. I also got a daydream view headset which apparently is terrible on it due to the low res so I'm leaning towards the s8. Can't find any good deals though.
Nope.
Thick bezels, fugly design, metal coated in plastic, questionable waterproofing, fragile/bending flaw, and a bad OLED screen. On top of that, quite pricey in USA which means even more expensive here in Aus.
So what does it excel in then? Battery life, nope. Feature-set, nope. Compactness, nope. Ruggedness, nope.
Literally doesn't have any outstanding features besides the cameras… which are great, but aren't overly better than the competitors (iPhone, V30, Note8, Mate10, U11).
But its got stock Android?! Well, that's not as a compelling argument anymore since we're seeing more and more competitors take that route such as the OnePlus, Blackberry, Nokia, and even the new AndroidOne devices.
Honestly, these days you're better off upgrading whenever it suits you by starting off a Current-year Midrange/Last-year flagship device.
Something that has a sensible price (<$500), a sensible design (sturdy), battery (>3,000mAh), specs (>QSD 636), and software.
(Examples: Galaxy S7, LG G6, LG V20, OnePlus 3, 3T, ZTE Axon 7, OnePlus 5, Nokia 8, Blackberry D60, Huawei Mate9, P10, Honor 10, Moto G5S, X4, Moto Z, Z Force, Z2, Lenovo Zuk 2, Zuk 2 Pro, Zuk Edge, Xiaomi Mi A1, Mi Note 3, Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi 6).
you forgot … 3.5 mm audio jack 🎧🎧🎧
Yeah, Google forgot it too….
Rofl
drops mic Oooooohhhhh no he didnittt!!
Too perfect a set up!
Advantage: Guaranteed update.
I used to own a HTC Desire HD until it was announced that it wouldnt be getting ICS
Yet you can get Lollipop via xda.
Whilst an occurrence like this is rare, a company can cease releasing updates if the hardware is not compatible/ or due to poor sales.
Unlimited photo uploads to google drive. This is one great function for me as I have heaps of RAW photos that i can now store on Google drive.
Disadavtanges: Price and design as you've mentioned
Unlimited original photos only 3 years upto15 Jan. 2021, and high-quality storage for all later uploads
note that screen article is on the pixel 2 xl, the pixel 2 has a different screen manufacturer: https://youtu.be/0JjbMT_x6CM
Your other points are fine though, although one other thing google has thrown in is 3 years of OS updates (wonder if any other companies will try to match that)
Only issue I see with Pixel 2 (non-XL) is lack of headphone jack. Rest of it great imo.
You check the price you know it's not worthed. Way too expensive
No wireless charging as well… missing external sd slot to add to it….then wondering how come it's popular
When was the last time a Google phone had an sd card?

Reminiscent of the dumpster fire that was the HTC 10
Thanks all…S8 it is….
Any good deals for S8?
I'd suggest getting it if it had a 16:9 screen, which is much more practical, would make the phone shorter / more usable, and would also cost less.
i think im going to get a pixel 2 today and im moving from iphone.
front facing speakers, updates as soon as it comes out, no bloatware, no dedicated bixby button, standard full hd res so there are no black bars on videos.
people complain about the bezels but im coming from the iphone 6s so they are pretty much the same. you get rid of the bezels and its not like the whole screen is usable anyway and also i hate those rounded corners on the screen, its the same as the iphone x ears to me
i went to buy the pixel 2 and saw the iphone x.
damn its nice, now i dont know…
