How Can We Improve Your Online Vision!

Hey guys

So after much thought me and a few friends have decided to start an online business, our service is to provide spectacles with our own designs and styles, what my question to you all is:

  1. If you have bought specs online, how can the service be improved to keep you coming back in future?
  2. If you have not bought any specs online, what is stopping you and what could we provide to get you on board?

All other advice will be appreciated :)

Yeah nah not something I'd buy from a brand new, 2-bit operation

Shoes, tshirts, etc. not so much of an issue. Something on your face however seems too personal to not feel in your hands and try on. You’d need an unlimited ship/try/refund arrangement which may be cost prohibitive. Also being on your face, extra vanity kicks in where brand is an issue. That’s me, others may not care.

For me, the main thing is price. My prescription is pretty high with 1.74 index lenses. So, as long as you're the cheapest, I'll go back (provided your customer service is good i.e. email is responded quickly, the spectacles are per the prescriptions, etc).

Would be even better if there's try at home service just like sneakingduck.com.au has, but it comes back to price for me.

Always bought my glasses from ZenniOptical with discount codes because it was the cheapest for high index lenses with blue light blocking technology. Also, their frames from their active range are the best fitting frames I've ever wore in terms of gripping my head nicely without any adjustments and they do not slip down my nose during summer.

    • How do they compare net price with Aus stores with provider number and Health fund ancillaries. Can you please give indication of price savings comparison.

  • Yeah we buy from Zenni as well. Basically like all the other people who have commented that buy online, comes down to price.

  • Tried online for the first time last night from Zenni, right before the 20% coupon came out this morning… What had stopped me is the fact you can’t really know what a pair of glasses will look like on you until you try them in person. Also for a long time I never really knew my exact prescription.

Why did I try - I’m very attached to my current glasses but they’re falling apart after being dropped and slept on for the past few years and couldn’t find similar in local stores. Zenni had something which looks very close to them, and they had detailed measurements which I could compare my existing ones to ie. range was better than locally.

Secondly, I blew last year’s and this year’s health fund rebate on a $700 pair of prescription Maui’s (which handily included the detailed prescription and optical specifications in the box). I was just going to wait until next year for the limit to reset, but for $50 delivered I figured it can’t hurt to try ie. price far cheaper than locally.

  • We have bought prescription sunglasses from vision direct.
Ray bans with script lenses and the original ones included too, was about 20% cheaper than just the sunglasses in Australia.

So what Health Funds are your Company associated with and
will they accept my claim on extras if I use your service?
