Hey thanks for the information. Actually just tried to order via their Singapore store but they don't provide options to ship to Australia :(
I share simlar sentiments regarding price point. I reckon they could use the lower price point and keep the die hard fans happy as a way of a cheap and reliable way of marketing their products.
Just contacted the Singapore's Lenovo Online Chat team.. seems like they might have a team that is able to fufil overseas orders

Limited edition, high relative cost, no Australian options. Ugh. But I really want an old style workhorse Thinkpad with new specs.
Some good information on Reddit. I think it's really going to be a limited edition. I don't know whether it's scheduled to be released in Australia (might need to ask the Lenovo guys), but the production would be limited and it's going to be much more expensive than T470 it's based on. It's currently SGD $2,599 in Singapore with no coupon code.
I don't mind the laptop is a bit thicker, but I can imagine there is a huge crowd of ThinkPad users who will want something like ThinkPad 25 (myself included) — traditional 7-row keyboard + modern hardware, but at the typical T-series price point. Why can't they just make it into a proper product line to keep the die hard users happy, especially those who evangelise and recommend their products.
