For any one considering this on an Optus plan. If you already have the 40 dollar plan with the 10 dollar discount.. And obviously making the assumption that there will be another discount 40 dollar plan with Optus yet again in 12 months time.

The 8plus with the 20% discount works out to be 1279.20 this works out well if you have the recent 30 dollar Optus plan with 15gb of data and Optus sport.

The difference with an Optus 106 plan over 24 months (2544) is close to 545 odd dollars.

yes i know Optus can be painful with the bill but still quite the savings.

This is my first post please go easy

    • is this a phone usage only plan?

      • The 40 plan does not include a handset if thats what you mean ??

  • +2

Rep, I was looking at the 8plus 256G, on your ebay site it's $1599 but Apple is selling it for $1479?

    • you just beat me to it. Wonder what the go with that is ?? Not quite the 20% if the initial price is inflated to begin with.

      • +1

probably would mean they make a loss if they don't inflate the price

        • +18

@MyMobile: in other words, price jacking

        • +2

@MyMobile: do u really lose money tho? i thought the discount is provided by Ebay australia while u still get the full amount?

        • +9

@Ragnarok1982:i wish , If that was the case I would list much less than retail

        • @Ragnarok1982: it's generally understood the discount is partly provided by eBay and retailers but the exact terms aren't allowed to be disclosed. So yes, without some form of an increase on a very low margin product they are going to lose money.

        • @Ragnarok1982: i can confirm this is the case with GoodGuys. Confirmed in store that ebay absorbs the 20% discount.

Not taking anything away from the Op but feels like underhanded marketing to boost sales, still a good price.

        • +4

@pulsarlx07: WIth all due respect, I don't think the store guys know what they are talking about. Any deals with Ebay is a headoffice thing, and headoffice guys would not be divulging anything to the stores - even to the store managers.

You can look at the behaviours of the participating stores and work out that it is a shared cost thing.

If you look at the site wide and category specific promos, most sellers do not move their pricing so those promos are funded by Ebay exclusively.

        • @sm007h: From what I heard the 20% deals are that ebay covers 10% and the seller must cover 10%. I think it was a seller who told me when I was purchasing some QC35s.

In truth, price jacking or not, this is less than RRP for local apple stock within weeks of the phones release, which is pretty good.

  • It works out at almost 15% off the Apple store price, but that gives you Aust stock and 2 year warranty vs shopmonk deal which is 20 cheaper but not Aussie stock - 1 year warranty and cant claim GST (if you can)

    • is the GST 90 days from purchase date ?

      • You can claim GST thru TRS from Date of Tax invoice upto 60 days.

If you can claim back GST thru a business then there isnt the same restriction, what but the actual limit is I dont know. If you are doing this you need to contact your accountant/accounts department for any time limit.

Rep, what's the deal with the AUS stock phones? The description says unlocked but then you have the network names next to it. Are the phones unlocked or not?

    • +1

Hello all our phones are unlocked and will work with any sim
      regards
      My mobile rep

  • and 1% cashrewards

  • +13

So it's been jacked up to $1,149.00 instead of the normal RRP of $1079.

    • +2

Ausluck renowned to do this practice too. Dirty!

    • +1

Yes it even shows that in the listing

I purchased one anyway, because of what I outlined above, that makes it the cheapest deal for Australian stock, even if its not the full 20%.

  • Great price

  • +11

I got mine for $999 during the last deal so feel a bit cheated out, but man some people, $160 lower than retail a month after release and still complaining about price jacking, stupid. Good price OP.

    • +7

I think it's on principle. A 15% saving off RRP shouldn't be advertised as 20% off. If a bricks and mortar store did that, the Ombudsman would be on their case. It's still a great price for anyone looking for a new iPhone so it gets a + vote here.

      • +3

Completely understandable, it's just a bit disheartening to see a company get ripped to shreds for trying to offer the best price possible, I can't see them making money on this, or if so, hardly anything at all. eBay should just offer more sitewide discounts other than these sales to counter the price jacking behaviour, it ruins it for everyone involved..

        • +2

Agreed. I'm quite sympathetic to the seller in this instance as they have produced the lowest price that I've seen for a local stock iPhone 8 yet. Price-jacking gets exploited too much though, and how much eBay pays vs how much the seller pays is so vague I understand why people are suspicious.

        • @sabretoothz: i beg to differ about the lowest price part.

Last week, you could get myer gift cards ar woolies, for almost 14% off. Not to mention you get three points per dollar buying from woolworths so it was just as cheap buy iphones from there. You also get myer one points lol.

      • +2

Not quite correct though. Op or the Ebay store offers 20% off listed price. There is nothing in the listing suggesting a percentage of RRP or MSRP. CMIW, stores can charge whatever prices, RRP or not. What will get them into trouble is if they start advertising a few different price points as RRP's. Which OP hasn't done, to my knowledge.

  • Hi rep, I wonder when you will have the stock for iPhone 8 plus 64gb gold?

  • +1

Hi Rep, do you have the iPhone 8 64gb in space grey? It would be great if you could match the RRP by Apple!

    • sorry only gold and silver in stock thanks
      regards
      My mobile rep

    • There seems to be space grey now :)

  • Where are the pickup locations? I am flying out 27th, what are my chances to receive this before then?

    • Pretty disappointed with the way the rep is responding to my questions. Simply asked a simple question which name will be on the tax invoice? Paypal owner's name or the person the phone to be delivered to as per ebay delivery address?

Have been asking multiple times since morning and after like 20 messages back and forth, still not an answer given.. SIGH…

  • Hi, Rep

Do you have IPhone 7 Plus 128GB Gold?

  • Is it refurbished?

    • Is it refurbished?

The phone was only released few weeks ago so how this can be refurb?

      • This happens when somebody uses it for few weeks!
