I am travelling to China next month with Qantas and I do not fancy sitting in Economy on the overnight return flight.
I have done upgrades on points before, but the system now allows one to bid for upgrades with points, rather than just spend them all in one go.
Has anyone done this?
How do you make it likely to get an upgrade, any tricks?

Seems to be based on status as well as how many points you offer; I've never been successful even when my points + original economy ticket value is close to just paying for business in the first place
