Unfortunately there was a recurring auto payment on my paypal account that I didn't realise was present until it went through. Does anyone know if it's possible to reverse it some how? I've since canceled the subscription.
Thanks

Yeah I had a feeling that would be the way it is. Just thought I'd see if anyone knew it was possible. it was for Private Internet Access. I didn't realise the payment was a subscription. I was going to sign up with a new account and use a code for a cheaper fee, but it looks as though the codes are all expired now anyway.
Can you summarise this page?
https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/ua/recurringpymts-full
By providing an advanced authorisation for a third party initiated payment, you are giving the third party the ability to collect or reverse variable payment amounts from your Nominated Payment Source until such time as this arrangement is cancelled.
You hereby authorise and instruct PayPal to pay the third party (or another person they direct) amounts from your Nominated Payment Source for the amounts you agreed to owe and as presented to PayPal by that third party. You agree that PayPal is not obligated to verify or confirm the amount the third party presents to PayPal for the purpose of processing these types of payments. You acknowledge and agree that use of Recurring Payments in any form means that these payments may be variable and scheduled to occur at certain times (in the manner agreed between you and the third party).
Cancelling Recurring Payments
Buyers or senders of funds may cancel a Recurring Payment at any time up to 3 business days prior to the date the payment is scheduled to take place.
If it was for a subscription that you had a trial of (Netflix , Spotify etc) I'd be contacting them and asking nicely for it to be refunded.
I considered doing this (it's with Private Internet Access) as I wanted to use one of the discount codes that are on here, but it looks like they are all expired now anyway unfortunately.
If it's still within 7 days of payment charged, PIA will refund you. Otherwise talk to them. Asking here wont get your money back.
it looks like you forgot to cancel a subscription but i would say you may not be able to challenge the charge as you agreed to it. The only thing you can do is to challenge the charge based on the service not being provided. ie, if it was a porn site and you just forgot to cancel then even if you didnt use it then you lose it, but if you couldnt use the service as it was down then you may stand a chance.
