I had trouble scanning it too. Possibly because the barcode wasn't printed correctly. It looks like the ink ran a little bit.
Use fly buys scanner to read gift card bar-code.
No trouble at all.Oooo thank you!!! Didn't know you could do that!!
Neither did the staff!
Would you happen to know if the cards come in anything less than $50 increments TA?
Sorry champ, no idea. Hopefully others can comment :)
$50 is the minimum for MasterCard, I'd imagine it's the same for Country Road & Witchery as well. There is a $30 kids gift card but the terms exclude it.
Damn..Guess I'll be waiting out for the Netflix deal if it comes up again then.
I'm guessing you can't use Coles discounted egiftcards to buy these.
Where are you getting your discounted egiftcards from? I'm aware of Union Shopper but they don't take amex.
Even if you don't get the discount, buying these with the Platinum Edge is still worthwhile because it moves more of your spend into the 3 point/$ category.
True you get 3 points/$1 spend with Platinum Edge but 2 points/$1 spend with Explorer and discounted egiftcard is a lot better given there's a $5 purchase fee attached also.
Yes but the 5% discounted cards with woolies code as supermarket but I can't find anywhere to get 5% discounted cards with coles that take any amex at all. Where are you getting them?
Secret…
In past similar offers I have never had a problem using physical gift cards, but I have included other goods in the transaction and so that may have gotten it past the checkout chick.
You can buy them with discounted egiftcards. No issues.
As long as the staff don't see you scanning with an egift card, you'll be fine.
stick the barcode? to the back of your flybuys hahah
edit: or e-wallet (ie Android Pay / Stocard app)No a bad idea but can Stocard read egiftcard barcode?
@HuskyActual:
To pay with an egift card, you need to use the scanner which is separate to the EFTPOS terminal. So in this regard, it's pretty obvious that you're not paying with EFTPOS or Android Pay.Basically, to purchase successfully, you need to pay for the item with one single payment method, at a self-checkout, and ensure the staff member doesn't notice you paying with a physical or e gift card (because they'll also be the one verifying the gift card once you scan it).
So how would you purchase the giftcard using egiftcard in this scenario if the egiftcards on come in $50,$100 and $200 value. Is there an ability to do split payment egiftcard and card?
I remebered at Coles there was only the eftpos terminal and the flybuys scanner. What other are you talking about?
@mastablasta:
Gotcha, my only experience with Coles e-giftcards was with the Pay with Android Pay gift box promo.@nightelves:
It won't work. As soon as you choose the Partial Payment method, the transaction is cancelled and the machine will tell you to go to a staff member to pay. So in this case, you'd need to pay with a physical or e gift card with at least $55 balance on it.The flybuys scanner (the one sticking out to the right of the EFTPOS terminal) is the one you use to scan your egift card.
Ohhh gotcha. Didn't know that was used for egiftcard. So a staff member will allow partial payment of egiftcard and card or cash? Read on here that it was possible to pay cash first then egiftcard. Although I can't seem to recall the person who mentioned it.
Do you know if you can use Android Pay on the latest Samsung phones?
@nightelves:
If the staff member is aware that you cannot buy a gift card with a gift card (most of them do these days), then they will disallow the purchase.@nightelves: I use Stocard for my Coles egift cards. Works great
@mastablasta: you can scan using normal scanner.
@wxyz234:
I presume you're referring to egift cards? If so, which one is the normal scanner? The one you scan groceries with?@nightelves: AFAIK the official Android pay app is available to download for NFC enabled Android handsets. Also bonus for you: Until the 18th October, Earn $20 worth of flybuys points when you shop with Android Pay. Excludes Giftcards, but good for the rest of your cart. See T&Cs
@mastablasta: yes
Last time they asked me what I was paying with. I said card and he asked to see it, then said not on giftcard and wouldn't approve the purchase.
@wxyz234:
Ok, good to know - thanks!Yeah was trying to take advantage of that promo but wanting to know if you can put Android on Samsung S7 and S8 phones.
@wxyz234:
Tried scanning a PDF of the egift card from my phone last night using the normal scanner and it didn't work - had to resort to the Flybuys scanner.@mastablasta: haven't tried that as I print it out.
@mastablasta: normal scanner not read barcode of egiftcard anymore.
I think they upgrade the software.
Where do we get discounted e-giftcards to purchase these ?
Hi Bandana.
Can u pls share, where can v get the discounted egift cards to purchase these ?
ThanksMy employer has a staff discount thing that offers coles egiftcards.
I think there are forum topics on here that says where else you can get them. There's not many places that offer them and most has a credit card surcharge.
@bandana:
ok
thanks..
I have in the past
once per flybuys household
Might get some ultimate kids for JB hifi
the fee went up 5c?
Nope still $4.95
The Coles Mastercard has always been $5. You might be confusing it with the Visa equivalent as it's $4.95.
$5.95
$6.95 for the new ones
It says once per flybuys house-hold.
Does it mean that 1 flybuys card can get just 1 of these cards or can get lets say mastercard n kids gift cards and earn points for both of these ?i'm hoping to find out too
Related question: I got bonus Flybuys points from a previous version of this deal 2 months ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/325654 ) Am I still eligible for this deal?
Woolies always have up to 5 cards but Coles has one.
What is the max value of master card?
Does it work like efpos card?
Max only can cliam 2000 points per flybuy's card right?couldn't find any $50 mastercard. Plenty of $100 ones. Does that eligible for the 2000 points? My understanding of the T&C's seems suggests it does. Any thoughts?
on any Coles MasterCard purchase
I just bought the $100 ones, I am guessing it does as it has in the past.
I certainly hope so,
I couldnt find the purple ones in the pic so I purchased the $100 ones with the white stripe at the top and more bright pink colour,if I recall correctly, the last promo these worked as well,
its such a pity its only once per household!
Has anyone successfully use the coles egift card to buy the coles master card? seem their system not allow it anymore…
Can u pls share where did u get the discounted e-gift cards from ?
Also did u try it n it didn't accept - the e-giftcard for coles master card?Can buy it from AGL
I tried paying with flybuys dollars and it wouldn't let me. Something about select a different tender or remove items from basket.
Flybuy dollars has not been reportedly not working for GC purchases for a while now, you will have to convert the flybuy dollars to a gift card outside of Coles and use that gift card to purchase these gift cards
The red Westfield gift card works. I paid $5 cash first, then the rest by Westfield GC.
So u mean to say v cn get wish cards (via cashrewards at 5% off) and then use that to get westfield gc n then buy coles card ?
You can also make your own 20c coins by filling a 50c coin round.
How are you able to split payment between cash and card. I thought that wasn't allowed.
You can't. no split payment allow on coles machines. the guy just trolling around
that's right, everyone is a troll when you're ignorant. it's possible to split with cash & card. as long as the cash is paid first then afterwards select to pay rest by card but not partial payment.
These dont scan properly
