Bought half a dozen Mayver's two weeks ago… guess I can find some pantry space for Pic's. Thanks.

    • Buy a bigger pantry :)

      • +6

        any pantry deal?

  • +3

I bought 12 Jars last time now I'm going for 24.

    • +2

You really like your nut butters.

      • +12

you sound like it is an emergency situation and only pics peanut butter left for the humanity to eat in order to survive. spend your time for something important instead making comical arguments through long paragraphs. i still believe you are just joking, though.

        • -4

you sound like it is an emergency situation

No I don't sound like that, you're just paraphrasing. My statement is very clear on the situation. It's not about urgency, its about having the right morals and consideration for others.

IF this type of hoarding wasn't a problem, Coles and Woolworths wouldnt have put a limit on Baby Formula per person during the situation a few months ago. The CEO would have said to mothers to suck it up and focus on something important such as a new brand of formula for their babies.

i still believe you are just joking, though.

I'm afraid your wrong on both sides, your argument above and the perception that I was joking

        • @frostman:
If it's half price, it's either pics' or market' concern and responsibility to supply adequate amount of the product since the demand will most likely rise during the period of the deal. And if you consider others, that mean you don't consider yourself when your current stocks are over and end up paying the usual price.

        • -2

@baldur: The manufacturer has no care on what price their product is once it's sold to Supermarkets.
Coles can sell it for 50C at their own loss, Pic's doesnt give a rat's ass.

Supermarkets set the discounts based on various variables known only to them. The manufacturer won't say "Oh hold on you're running low, let me get some more shipped over"
At the same time, someone can come in and clean the shelf from these jars and walk out, Woolies can't stop them unless it becomes endemic and there's enough complaints.
So where does this leave us? back to the moral part.

        • @frostman: Promotions like this don’t work like that at all. They usually have a great deal of input. And in the other scenario, a manufacturer of a product would most likely be very concerned to see it marked down to less than 10% of the usual sale price due to the impact it may have on their brand.

        • @frostman: Could you know less about how promotions work if you tried?

You're defining clueless on this page today after your initial unhinged rant.

        • @frostman: 😳 frostman come in from the cold peanuts not numbnuts!

        1. Humans are animals.

        2. They can always get a raincheck if they miss out…

        3. So, where can I save $50-75? Do tell….this is Ozbargain, after all.

        4. 24 is too many anyway.

      • +2

You must be confused and logged on to the wrong website, this is Ozbargain, we don't have morals or ethics.

      • +1

This is peanut butter for god sake. I infact encourage more people buying products that are on special, because then it will increase the frequency of the special.
By the way, buying baby formula and sending it off to China is not animalistic, it's called capitalism/making profit.

      • Bro, rainchecks make your argument so embarrassingly invalid.

  • +3

Aah. Now need to stock Pics. Got 6 from last Mayver deal. I find PICS better thn Mayver.

    • +7

Second that, PICS is the best.

    • +2

i choose mayver over pics because it has less sugar and fat.

      • +10

If you compare Mayver's smooth peanut butter to Pic's, they both contain just peanuts and salt. Mayver's contains 99.3% peanuts and 0.7% salt. Pic's contains 99.5% peanuts and 0.5% salt. Comparing the nutrition panels, the Australian (Kingaroy) peanuts that Pic's uses appear to contain a bit more naturally occurring sugar and a bit less fat.

        • You really know your nuts.

    • I prefer Mayvers nuts

  • I've never eaten peanut butter. What am I missing out on?

    • +1

      Peanuts.

Yay! I've managed to score only a dozen of Mayver's last week, so time to stock up again.

  • +2

Oh hells yeah … been hanging out for this since last sale.

Got 12 last time … not enough

  • +3

Mayvers is so runny you can almost drink it. Pics is so much better!

    • +3

put it in the fridge then it gets thicker

      • +3

Bloody hell why didn't I think of this

  • +11

    Pic's or it didn't happen.

  • +1

    Can't stop eating PIC's Peanut butter~~~
the only way to stop me is the clear the shelf before me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How does this compare with Aldi's?

    • Pretty sure aldis PB isn't all natural like this one, so it's not exactly comparing apples to apples. I imagine this one isn't anywhere near as sweet as the aldi variant.

  • Sorry, is this better than Mayver's. + vote if yes. - vote if not. Thanks

    • Yes

    • +2

I like that Pic's specifies where they source their nuts (Kingaroy, QLD).

      • +1

Very true. Mayver's is great, but nut source is not 100% Australian. See HERE for information on Mayver's nuts.

(As of May 2017) Our priority for 2017 is to continue using as many Australian nuts as we can so our Mayver’s Peanut Butters will still maintain at least 50% Australian Grown Peanuts. The remainder of our peanuts will be sourced from Argentinian farms which meet our high standards for sustainable farming practices and, of course, deliver the best tasting Peanut Butter around!

        • -1

          nut source

I make my own nut sauce.

    • No

  • +1

Never tried these. Are they really good?

    • Yeah, very good but it's very different to most traditional peanut butters. It's more of a peanut butter oil. It's really delicious and tastes great. Have it on hot toast or crumpets.

  • I bought 24 of these a few months ago. Now I have 15 left. Will stock up on a few more. Thanks

  • Is this brand more like sanitarium or good nut (kraft)?

Seems like a good product but I couldn’t eat the Sanitarium brand I think it might have been dry. I have got the jar sitting in the pantry as “mice” peanut butter as they sure did love it, but i’m not going to be tasting it now. 😂😂

Good nut (Kraft) I find much to be a much better taste and doesn’t get served to capture mice, so If this product is better tasting (for me, not the mice) then please let me know.

  • I'd like to see Pic's do a dark roasted variety like the Mayver's one.

  • I bought this for the first time last week. It was ok. At least it doesn't contain a lot of sugar.

  • If you can't get Mayvers on special, this is the next best thing.

    • Lol. I thought its other way around.

  • +1

I feel like a duffer, totally missed this post but read the catalogue today and got really excited! Have to stock up.

  • Just NSW I assume. Coles Brisbane doesn't have the promo

    • +1

My local one in Brissie did. Yours isn't a Coles Express or something?
