So a bit of a back story my vehicle was one of the many impacted by the Takata airbag inflator recall. I don't usually take my car to the dealership as I have my own mechanic.
The vehicle I drive is pretty stock standard other than an entertainment system I had installed professionally by a local shop when I first bought it (touch screen navigation unit, ipod connectivity, new speakers all round, amplifier and sub.)
I dropped it in to have it's airbag inflator replaced and upon picking my car back up in the afternoon and the unit had been reset (this is normal as they would have disconnected the battery). However when I got home and set it back up as I would usually do my steering wheel controls no longer worked for volume up down, skip track, mute etc. iPod connected will no longer play music and only my 2 rear speakers are working.
I'm not too savvy on this kind of thing however to me it seems obvious they have disconnected something and either connected it back incorrectly or not connected it back at all.
When I released on Friday afternoon they had already closed and scheduled a callback for today which I received and it goes back in on Monday. I am curious to know if they will be able to fix the problem as the equipment is obviously aftermarket however it all worked perfectly before I took it in for this warranty job.
Just wondering what others would do in my situation here? I'll see how it goes on Monday I know taking it back to the shop where I had it installed originally could have it fixed however that will incur a charge which I almost feel the dealership should own up to if they are not able to fix it but maybe I'm wrong.
Let me know what you would do! Thanks!
Just casually mention you're in the market for a new car. They'll sort you out!
