Living in the Philippines can I still Use OzBargain?

Hi guys I'm living in the Philippines is it still possible for me to take advantage of deals on ozbargain? I'm in a small province can I get a laptop or gadgets delivered reliably for a good price? Would I be better off sourcing from Hong Kong or Singapore?

Cheers.

  • Yeah, all the stuff like cockroach mint sticks, aliexpress stuff you can get but the good deals from aussie retailers for the most part won't be available.

I think its hard enough keeping cheapcheaplah.com going. That place is on life support.

Does anyone from Singapore actually use cheapcheaplah.com? Or is it all us Aussies trying to keep the place alive?

90.5% of sessions on CheapCheapLah over the last 7 days were from Singapore (vs 2.7% from Australia).

@scotty: Really? Wow! Just seems like most of the posts are made by familiar names.

  • Yeah the international deals should be ok for you as long as they ship to where you are. As for most electronics and stuff maybe not because of taxes and well different electrical wirings but you can do some research and try.

Not sure if there is an export tax for Australia to other countries but there is definitely an import tax for items over $1000 AUD going in.

Check Philippines import export laws.. If there are not many you might actually be able to get cheaper gear especially computer hardware from America also I think maybe same electrical system so no need for adapters.

    • There is no clear statement on how items are taxed in PH, you may get surprised tax is higher or almost 1/2 of the item itself.

      • Ah yes corruption tax. Always changes depending on the person ahem I mean product.

      • How about bringing electronics in at the airport? Any taxes?

Depends on how many you will bring. You can bring few devices and chuck them on your hand carry bag.

    • Philippines is 220 volt.

        Yes. US/EU socket will fit.

  • I'm also wondering what is the best method of shipping to an island province in Northern Mindanao?

I think DHL would still be the best.

Good day kabayan, I have tried shipping using aliexpress to PH it always takes 1 month to arrive (Region 3) and you need to pay tax from postal office. Some items are taxable (phone, laptop etc.) Depends on their price.

My advice, if you want to buy laptop and gadgets there are plenty facebook pages and markets you can search.

Stay away from international shipping if you are planning to buy gadgets as you may pay more tax than the product itself.

    • Can you suggest any Facebook pages?

PC Corner one of the best.

Also join the facebok group Gaming Laptop Pinas, they often do raffle there and some games and you can win Laptops.

As per cellphone you can try Kimstore, Widget City.
